To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM L. ALLEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Topeka,'in the county of Shawnee and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toy Guns, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to toy guns, and contemplates a structure which is very simple to permit of its manufacture and sale at a nominal cost, the gun including a plunger designed to be engaged and held in a retracted position by the trigger against the influence of an elastic element which is connected with the trigger and the stock of the gun.

The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.

Figure 1 represents a side elevation of the gun showing the plunger held in a retracted position by means of the trigger.

Figure 2 is a similar View showing the plunger in its extended or active position.

Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 1.

Referring to the drawing in detail 10 indicates the stock of the gun which is provided with an extension 11 upon which is mounted the barrel 12. One longitudinal edge of the extension 11 is concaved as at 13, and arranged immediately above this concave portion is the extension 14: of the barrel which is terminally secured to the stock 10. The extension 14: is curved in cross section to cooperate with the concaved surface of the extension 11 to provide a guide for the plunger 15. This plunger is preferably constructed of wood and is designed to slide through the barrel 12, with a portion always positioned between the extensions 11 and 14 of the structure. this elastic element being secured to a nail or thelike 18 secured to one end of the extension 11. The plunger is also provided with a bevelled surface 19 and a shoulder 20, the latter being engaged when that portion of the trigger indicated at- 21 operates between the extensions 11 and 14: respectively to hold the plunger retracted. The finger engaging portion of the trigger is indicated at 22 and when pressure is exerted against the trigger it is separated to release the plunger, allowing the latter to be moved forcibly through the barrel of the gun under the influence of the elastic element 17 Sticks of suitable length indicated at 23 can be used as projectiles, or used to force the plunger to a retracted position, after which smaller articles can be arranged in the barrel of the run to be projected therefrom when the plunger is released.

While it is believed that from the foregoing description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and described and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.

Havin thus described the invention, 1 claim:

A toy gun comprising a stock, a reduced extension projecting from one end thereof and having its upper surface grooved, a barrel supported 011 the extension adjacent the outer end thereof and projecting an appreciable distance beyond said extension, an extension projecting rearwa'rdly from one end of the barrel and terminally connected with the stock, the extension of said barrel being spaced from and arranged directly above the extension on said stock, and defining therewith a guide, a plunger arranged to slide in said guide and having an inclined under surface, and a shoulder at one end of said surface, a trigger formed from a single piece of wire and designed to engage said shoulder to hold the plunger retracted, said plunger having a transverse opening, an endless elastic element passed through said opening and secured to the outer end of the extension on said stock, and adapted to forcibly move the plunger in one direction when released from said trigger.
