Description

Mmch 4 1924;a
A. J, o. HoscHEK TRUSS Filed June 2e. 1925 supporting member Patented Mar. 4, i924.
@FFQE TRUSS.
Application filed .Tune 26, 1923.
To @ZZ iii/0m t may concern.'
Be it known that AciriLLn Josnrii OisHEI HoscHEK, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at N ew York, in the county of New York and State of New York, has invented certain new and useful 'Improvements in Trusses, of which the follow ing is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in trusses for hernia or other defect of the abdomen which needs support.
rlhe principal object of my invention is to provide simple and effective means whereby the use of the ordinary waist encircling belt is rendered unnecessary and the discomfort due to the belt cutting into the muscles when stooping down or bending is obviated.
Other and further objects and advantages will be apparent as the specification is proceeded with.
In the accompanying drawings wherein a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated:
Figure 1 is a front View ing the truss applied;
Figure 2 is a rear view thereof; Figure 3 is a detail view of the abdominal of a person show- Figure 4 is a detail of the suspender attaching member and stub straps;
F igui'e 5 is a detail view of the waist band or strap.
Figure 6 is a section on line 6-6 of Figure 5.
Referring more specifically to the drawings wherein like reference numerals refer to similar parts, 5 denotes a waist band or strap adapted to extend about one third way around the waist line of the wearer.
An abdominal supporting member compiising a strip 6, of strong material such as duck extends from the waist line at the front down between the legs and thence upwardly around the muscle of the leg at the rear thereof and thence upwardly toward the waist line and slightly toward one side of the wearer. This abdominal supporting member is provided with a plurality of buckles 7, adjacent its forward upper end which are arranged in a row slightly inclined from the vertical to which the stub straps 8, at the forward end of the waist band 5, connect. rThe rear end of the waist band 5, is provided adjacent its upper edge with buttons 9 and 10 to which the rear ends of the suspender Serial N0. 647,843.
loops 11 and 12 button, the lower edge of the rear end of the band being provided with eyes 18 and 14 with which corresponding hooks 15 and 16 on the rear end of the abdominal supporter 6, connect.
The suspender loop 12, which as previously described connects at its rear eX- tremity to the button 10, is connected at its other end to buttons 17 on the upper frontv extremity of the abdominal supporter 6. The suspender loop 11, also previously described as being connected at its rear eX- tremity to the button 9, on the waist band 5, is connected at its opposite end to buttons 18, on a strip of fabric 19. This strip of fabric 19, carries a plurality of stub straps 20, of graduated length adapted for attachment to a corresponding member of staggered buckles 21, some of which are secured to the inner edge of the abdominal supporter 6 and others to the extension or flap 22, stitched thereto or forming an integral part thereof.
It will be noted that the stub straps 8, are connected to the supporter 6, substantially midway the point of attachment of the stub straps 20, and the suspender loop 12, also that the stub straps 8 and 20 are respectively connected to opposite sides of the front portion of the supporter. This arrangement together with the fact that the waist band extends but part way around the waist insures freedom of action and an equalization of the various stresses exerted on the supporter by the Suspenders and waist ban Having thus described my invention what claim is:
1. A device of the kind described comprising an abdominal supporting member extending at the front down between the legs of the wearer and thence upwardly at the rear towards the waist line, a waist band partially encircling one side of the waist line and connected at opposite ends to said abdominal supporting member, a pair of suspender loops and means for connecting opposite ends of said loops respectively to the front and rear portions of said abdominal supporting member.
2. .A device of the kind vdescribed coniprising an abdominal supporting member eXtending at the front down between the legs of the wearer and thence upwardly at the rear towards the waist line, a waist band extending partially around the weist line and eonneeted et one end to the rear end o tlie aloclominel supporting member, and at its other end connected to tlie 'forward part oi' the abdominal supporting member below the elirl thereof and at one Side, L pair of Suspender loops connected at their rear extremitiee to the rear end of the waist bend, the forward extremity of one ol" Said suspender loops being connected to the 'orward part of the eboiliiml supporting memoer below and on the opposite side of the weist band connection, and the forward extremity of tlie other of Seid Suspender loops being Connected to the upper forward eX- tremity of Suid supporting member.
ln testimony whereof l affix my Signature in presence of two witnesses.
