MANIFOLD LOCK.-

An object of the invention is to provide improved lock controlled and lock actuated valves for the intake manifolds of gasoline engines, so as to prevent unauthorized use of the motor, thereby reducing the probability of theft of the vehicle in which the motor may be installed.
It is an object to provide a lock controlled valve means which may be utilized in combination with an ordinary or usual throttle or may be combined with a primary throttle.

In order to lock being picked by the employment of a hair pin or some other similar instrument, I
provide means for rendering the rotation of the cylinder comparatively difiicult so that the employment of relatively fine instruments will be ineffective to rotate the cylinder in efiecting an actuation of the valve 10. This means in the present instance comprises a leaf spring 17 secured to the inher side of the lock casing by means of a screw 18 so that the spring bears against the inner end ofthe cylinder 13 so as to frictionallyhold the cylinder against rotation. It will, of course, be understood that by the employment of the key 15 suflicient force may be exerted to overcome the action of the spring and thereby effect rotation of the cylinder over the valve 10.
Further embodiments, modifications and arrangements of the parts may be resorted the spirit of the invention as the entire removal of the key from the throt-- tle controlling'lock and from the throttle link. i
