Be it known that we, FRANK JEz and THOMAS DUFFY, citizens of the United States, residing at Taylor, in the county. of Williamson and State of Texas, have invented new and useful, Improvements in Tag Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates nto tag holders, and

particularly to holders for tags to be exhibited in stores and other merchandising establishments to indicate to prospectwe Y purchasers the rices of goods or articles struction, combination and arrangement ofparts, hereinafter H claimed, reference being had to the accom-k ad'iacent to whic ithey are exposed.

A further object o theinvention is to provide means of an improved nature for applying the tag to a base, such as a table edge, shelf edge or counter, ywherein the tag is firmly held properly positioned upon the support or base, andwherein, when desired, the holder 1n its entirety may be quickly and easily removed from the suprt. With these and other ob3ects in view, the invention consists of the features of confully described and panying Idrawin in which:-

Referring now more particularly to the drawing, a case/or shelving such as commonly used in stores for the display of goods, is indicated generally at 5, and in the present instance includes at least one horizontally disposed shelf .6, a vertically disposed apron 7 bein disposed at the top of the case. The goo to be' exhibited will rest upon the several shelves of the case, or upon suitable tables in the store or display room.

The tag holder includes a plate,8 of suitable metal and being of any suitable size, the said lplate having stantlally rectangular form, vand having a reduced ear or finger piece 9 extending from one side of said enlarged portion. he anchoring or supporting device for the tag holder is indicated generally at 13, and comprises a single -strand of relatively stiff heavy wire bent so as to provide a body portion14` and spaced` parallel legs 15 and 16 respectively disposed in the same general direction. The wire is bent at the juncture of the body portion 14 with the leg 16 thereof so as to provide a loo or eye rtion 17 from which the tag ho der or bo y 8 depends. The legs 15 and 16 are of substantially the same length,y and their ends are turned at right angles to the leg portions and in directions opposite to each other and constitute feet 18.

In applying the anchoring member to the tag holder, the arm 16 is ge of the portion 9 of the plate, andthe plate iscon- The extremities of arms 15 and 16 `extend in opposite directions and therefore maintain the anchoring device in proper position upon the support and prevent wobbling of the same in either direction. In instances where the support is disposed horizontally, the leg 15; is positioned upon the upper surface of the support while leg 16 engages with the lower surface of the same, the body portion 14 thereof being disposed vertically Aupon the edge of the table or shelf and the loop 17 is disposed slightly below the lower edge of the table. The `tag holder 8 depends from said loop and maintains the tag carried thereby in proper position, for exhibition. When it is desired to attaehthe anchoring device to a vertically disposed apron or support, the leg 16 engages with the rear. face of the support while the leg 15 is passed to the front face of the support. .The loop 17 of the anchoring device fis therefore disposed adjacent to the rear edge of the apron` or support and the card 12 is properly resented to the gaze of purchasers. Should it be desired, the tag holderl m'ay be removed 'from the anchoring device and7 reversed.

From the foregoing it is apparent that a tag so constructed may be quickly and easily applied toa suitable base wherever located with the assurance that the tag carried thereby will be properly exhibited and will be held firmly against accidental detachment. The holder per se is of such construction that the tag, while held firmly therein, may be quickly and easily replaced when occasion demands.

While the above is a description of the invention in its preferred embodiment, it will be understood that various changes in the construction and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined by the claim.

Having thus `fully described our invention, we claim In a holder for display tag plates, an anchoring member formed of a single strand of spring wire, said wire being bent to pro- -vide a body portion straight from end to end thereof, legs projecting in the same direction at right angles to and from the said ends of said body portionand arranged to lie in superimposed relation and in the same plane, feet extending at right angles to and from the extremities of said legs in parallel relation Vto each other e ui-distantly in opposite directions beyon the plane of the body portion, and an elongated loop formed in said strand at the juncture of said body and one of said legs and projecting outwardly beyond the opposite side of the body from said leg, said loop having its entrance between the juxtaposed ends of said body and leg and having its major axis lying on a diagonal line passing through the space between the legs.
