E. J. EAGLES ET AL FASTENER Filed July 12. 1922 Patented Sept. Til, T923.
TAE/@928 UNTTEE STATES PATENT @EETCE- FRIEDRICK J. EAGLES AND ARTHUR E. FTTZGED, F HONOLULU, HAWMI.
FTBENER.
Application tiled July 12, 1922. Serial No. WHEN.
To all whom t may con/cem.'
Be it known that we, FREDRICK J, EAGLES and ARTHUR R, FITZGERALD, both citizens of the United States, residing at Honolulu,
Territory of Hawaii, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in fasteners, and has for its principal object to produce an effective means of fastening and securely holding together the meeting ends of a babys diaper.
Another object of the invention is to produce a fastener which may be used for the i5 purpose of fastening and holding together finished material or objects such as paper, cloth, etc., either temporarily or permanently.
A still further object of the invention is to produce a metallic fastener which may be applied to a garment in an easy and effective manner and removed without damaging or destroying the garment in any way.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
Tn describing our invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the invention.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view.
Figure 3 is an end elevation.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a plan view of the blank from which the article is formed.
Tn these views l indicates a. fastener All ment.
The fastener is S0 constructed that there are no sharp points or rough surfaces which may inict injury to the infant device is applied to its garment.
when thc One end of the fastener is of a greater length than the other so as to enable the user of the device to gain ready access thereto and remove the device from a garment.
ltt is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of our invention will be readily apparent.
We desire it to be understood that we may make changes in the construction and in thek combination andarrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, we
claim A fastener of the character described formed from a single strip of spring metal bent intermediate of its ends and being provided with a pair of substantially diamond 'shaped indentations formed on one portion adjacent the respective side edges thereof, and a like indentation formed on the other portion, tween the and being arranged above and beothers for cooperation therewith.
In testimony whereof we ailix our signatures.
FREDRTCK J. EAGLES. ARTHUR R. FITZGERALD.
