7 J. A. WALSH C OMB CLEANER Filed'Oct. 23 1922 Patented Sept. 4, 1923.
JAMES A. WALSH, OF TOLEDO, OHIO.
COMB CLEANER.
Application filed October 23, 1922. Serial No. 596,501.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J Arms A. l/VALSH, of the city of Toledo, in the county of Lucas, in the State of Ohio, in the United States of America, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Comb Cleaner, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in a comb cleaner which by construction affords a means whereby individuals using the same may the more readily and conveniently replace and insert various sized cleaning cords, suspended under tension from opposing threading holes in the body jaws, for greater adaptable usage.
The objects of my invention are, firstly, to provide a more convenient and practicable comb cleaner: secondly, to provide a more durable and reliable comb cleaner: and thirdly, to provide a less complex and costly comb cleaner.
I attain these objects by the construction illustrated in the accompanying. drawing, wherein like numerals refer to similarly constructed parts throughout the same, and which presents a perspective view of the comb cleaner improvement, readily disclosing two portions of the body construction which form the jaws thereof.
The jaws of this comb cleaner invention, referred to by numerals l and 2, are preferably formed by the use of two similarly constructed arch shaped sections, referred to by numerals 3 and 4 and which have their respective ends juxta positioned so as to simulate a semi-circular formation: These arch shaped sections are preferably secured by screw fasteners 5, 5, 5 and 5 to the base of a spring plate, referred to by numeral 6, in order that aforesaid sections may be caused to spread apart at their jaws 1 and 2 and provide a tension for suspended comb teeth cleaning cords referred to by numeral 7 arch shaped sections 3 and 4 are provided, near the base of jaws 1 and 2, with opposing cleaning cord threading holes, referred to by numerals 8 and 9, through which various sized cleaning cords may readily be threaded across from one jaw tothe other by convenient use of a needle.
Near the outer base of arch shaped sect-ion 4 is thereto secured a small brush, referred to by numeral 10, whereof the composing fibers at their base are interwoven through and into said section 4 for greater durability, as referred to by numeral 11.
It is quite apparent how that an individual, using this comb cleaner invention, may the more readily and conveniently suspend various sized cleaning cords, in proportion with ample tension desired, by threading such cord with a needle passed back and forth from threading holes 8 and 9 respectively as positioned near the base of arch shaped sections 3 and 4 as hereinbefore specified: and further how that these cleaning cords may be drawn through between the teeth of a comb in accord with particular space provided thereat for the purpose of removing whatever deposits may have been collected and how that the use of brush 10 will aid in the displacement of aforesaid deposits about and along the outside of the combs teeth.
desire to secure by Letwhich said arch shaped sections are secured and a cleanlng to spread apart their jaws cord suspended back and forth under tension from said threading holes, substantially as hereinbefore described.
In witness whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JAMES A. WALSH.
