A. E. LENDENSCHMEDT RECORD COUPON ENVELOPE Filed Oct. 2, 1922 (Receiveb.
mykke 1X BY I Patented Aug. 14, 1923.
.. UNITED STATES AUGUST E. LINDENSCHIIL'IDT, 013 FORT THGMAS, KENTUCKY.
RECORD COUPON ENVELOPE.
Application filed October 2, 1922. Serial No. 591,734.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Atieus'r E. LINDEN- SCHMIDT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Fort Thomas, in the county of Campbell and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Record Coupon Envelopes, of which the following is a. full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a construction of duplicate envelopes especially designed for the holding of interest coupons and the like, which it is desired to deposit in bank or other collection agency for collection, and which shallperinit the collectingagency to transmit the coupons as deposited in one envelope while retaining the other envelope, upon which data is made which it is not desired to transmit to the place of payment of the coupons.
It is customary for banks, trust companies and other collecting agencies to provide coupon envelopes for the use of their depositors when cashing or depositing any Government, municipal or other coupons, and these envelopes usually bear the name of the depositary, provide space for description of the coupons, number, amount, date when due, where payable and so forth, also a line for the name of the depositor. The envelopes with coupons enclosed are forwarded to the place of payment by the bank.
A great many of the larger banks and trust companies, in order to give better service to their customers, many of whom object to having their names sent with coupons, erase the depositors name (if given) and for the purpose of tracing the coupons (in the event they are returned or lost) keep a coupon record book in which the name of the depositor and other details are entered; these entries are numbered and the number given to the entry is placed on the envelope containing; the coupons.
It is to obviate the necessity for keepingthis coupon record book and to permit the forwarding" of the coupons in the envelope in which they are placed by the depositor, without any indication of the name of the depositor, while the bank retains a duplicate envelope containing the same record and in addition the name of the depositor and any other data which it is not desirbale to transmit, that my invention is directed,
and it consists essentially in the employment of two envelopes, the one fitting snugly within the other, both envelopes being ruled and spaced to receive the essential data de sired for transmission, with the inside of the outer envelope carbonized in a zone necessary to make a carbon transfer of this data, while the outer envelope also is additionally ruled and spaced to receive other data, but these portions of the outer envelope are not carbonized, so that no transfer is made of the additinal information upon the inner envelope which contains the coupons.
In the drawings, 1
Figure l is a plan of the outside envelope taken from the frontside.
Figure 2 is a similar view of the inside envelope.
Figure 3 is a viewed from the front torn away bonization.
F or the depositor two envelopes of ordinary construction are provided 1 and 2; the outer envelope is of a size to snugly receive the inner envelope.
The inner envelope is an ordinary envelope with the usual side flap for mailing purposes. The outer envelope, however, which is intended for filing, is preferably open at the end, and the back is al o made of paper or cardboard suiliciently stiff to make it adequately rigid for filing purposes.
Both envelopes on the address side are divided into similar spaces 3 for the receipt of data required, as number of coupons enclosed. when due, when deposited, where payable, so that when the one envelope is enclosed in the other, these spaces will coincide and this portion of the outer envelope is carbonized at 6 on. the inside so tl the data made on the outer envelope will be transferred to the face of the inner envelope.
The upper and lower portions 4-, 5, of the address side of the outer envelope are also provided with spaces for other data, but these portions are not carbonized so that no transfer of this data is made on the inner envelope.
It will be the usual custom to furnish the envelopes with the one inside the other. The depositor making the deposit of coupons at his bank for collection, fills in the plan of the outer envelope rear with a portion of the to indicate the zone of carinformation required, including hi name and address with a pencil on the outer envelope without removing the inner envelope,
i i be filed away either alphabetically in the name of the'depositor, by date,'or'by some filing number, while the innerenvelope carries on its i ace all the necessary information "for collection. Thus much time and labor is saved, the necessity of any coupon record book is obviated and the name of'the owner of the coupons or other non-essential information does not go to the payer.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
, An enclosure for interest coupons and the like, comprising duplicate envelopes to be enclosed one within the other, and'means for sealingthe inner envelope with the address side of each envelope d1v ded into lines and spaces for necessary spaces on the outer envelope for additional data, with the front portion of the outer envelope provided with a zone of carbonization, whereby only'i-the necessary information will be transferred to the inner envelope.
2; An enclosure for interest couponsand the like, comprising duplicate envelopes-to be enclosed one within the other, with the,
address side of each envelope divided into lines and spaces for necessary information,
information, adapted to register with each other, and
adapted to register with each other, and 7 AUGUST LINDENSCHMIDT.
