Be it known`thatl, HENRY ll. HOLOOMB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Centerville, in the county of Turney and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in Trolling Spoonsof` which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an artificialiish bait of the class commonlyl designated as a trolling spoon, and further known to shermen as a wabblen llnasmuch as it is de= signedto progress through the water in a series of erratic rushes, upward, downward or laterally to either side, it will be seen that a great improvement has been made over the other artificial fish baits now being used.
Another 'object of theinvention is to provide a trolling spoon vof the above mentioned character which will receive and Hash all available lights while the trolling spoon is drawn through the water under a manner of connection to the line which permits the spoon to rotate onan axis represented by the line of Hight to which the hook is connected.
Another object of the invention is to provide a trolling spoon of the above mentioned character, which is inexpensive to manufacture, simplein construction, strong and dura-ble. v

ln the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration, is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1y designates the body of 1ntrolling spoon and has at one end thereo the well blown type of swivel 2, attached `thereto and is connected to the 'trolling spoon in any suitable manner. At the opposite end ofthe trolling spoon, the hooks 3 are attached.I
` For the purpose of more clearly understanding my invention l am terming a portion of the trolling spoon to which the swivel 1s connected as the head of the trolling spoon, and the portion to which thel hooks 3 are connected as the tail of the troll- 1n spoon.
he trolling spoon is formed from a single sheet of material having its intermediate portion bent back upon itself to provide a whirling fin 4 as more clearly shown in the drawings in Figs. 3 and 4. The edges of the body of the trolling spoon l are curved so as to provide concaved surfaces 5 and 6 as w1ll be clearly seen in Fi 3 of the drawing, the purpose of which wlll be hereinafter fully described.
The trolling spoon has both the concaved and convexed sides as well as the whirlin fin constructed of highly polished materia so as to produce a reflection as the trollin spoon is travelling through the water and thereby will attract in a flash all available lights while the trolling spoon is in progress of rushing through the water in a series of erratic rushes both upwardl downwardly or laterally and to either si e. By having the side of the spoon, upon which the fin is mounted, concaved, the water -will have a tendency to cause the trolling spoon to whirl as the same is drawn through the water by the pull exerted on the trolling line, it will be readily seen that a ositive turning action is acquired. Furt ermore, by having the whirling lin 4 of a greater height at the swivel head, and taperlng down to the tail of `the trolling spoon, the trolling spoon will have a tendency to be caused to rotatably travel in a downward motion in the water at all times and thereby further assuring the operation of the devlce.
'llhe shape of my trolling spoon in this instance is spoon shaped, but l do not wish to resorted to -without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the subjoined claims. y
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire ltosecure by Letters Patent, is v 1. A trolling spoon comprising a spoon shaped body, a fin extending longitudinally thereof, said fin increasing in height from one end of the trolling spoon to the other end of the trolling spoon.
2. A trolling spoon of the class described formed of a single piece of material, and havin its intermediate portion bent back upon itself to provide a fin, the edges ofthe body of the trolling spoon being curved upwardly with relation to the n.
3. Atrolling spoon of the class described l i formed of a single blank of material and having its intermediate portion bent back upon itself to provide a fin, said iin increasing in height from one end of the trolling spoon to the other.
