TRANSFORMER-TANK SUPPRT.
Application tiled December 9, 1921.
T0 @5K whom it may concern.'
Be it known that l Lewis Gr. MOULIN- TOOK, a citizen of the nited States, residing at Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny o and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful llmprovements in Transformer-Tank |Supports, of which the following is a specification. v
'lhis invention relates to supporting E@ means for tanks and particularly to a. support for a transformer tank containlng a transformer submerged in oil. The object of the invention is to provide a means whereby a transformer adapted for platl@ form support may readily be mounted on a pole in elevated position.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention Fig. l is an lelevational side view of a transformer tank support and lF ig. 2 is a plan view of the same with parts broken away.
lin the specic embodiment shown in the drawings a support is shown adapted for holding a large size transformer tank 'il indicated in outline by broken lines. The support comprises a base B with front and rear angle bars 5 and 6 and transverse channels 7 with their webs connted to the inner vertical flanges of the angle bars by angle cleats 8. The base B thus prevents a grid-like structure with a lflat upper surface upon which sits the transformer tank T.
The rear angle 6 at each end carries rearwardly extending hook members 10 passlng in bent form from beneath the' horizontal flange of the angle and fastened thereto in any suitable manner. Side straps ll extend at an incline from each' end of the front angle 5 and are bent at their upper ends to form the upper hooks 12', while vertical side braces 14: are connected between these side straps and the rear angle 6., Fastened to these vertical braces is the hoop strap 15 extending around tbe body of the transformer 'tank rllvand holding it securely in place on the base B.
'llhe upper frame work provided by the straps -11 and braces 14 at each side evenly nl@ supports the base and rmits the whole structure with itsl tank to .be suspended vfrom horizontal beams suoli as b, ZV". The
Serial llo. 521,210.
tank ll is securely supported by the rigid base and hoop strap 15 and at the same time the top of the transformer is left free of encumbrance and clear for the attachment of the lead wires, etc. instead of being suspended in elevated position bythe hooks l0, l2 the base B may be set directly on the ground or Hoor and the tank 'l resting on the base will be held in position by the frame structure above.
1. A support for a transformer tank comprising a flat base, and side frames of stock material cut to length and fastened rigidly together and to the `base and formed with hook means for suspending said base, and a retaining strap member fastened between said side frames and adapted tol surround the transformer tank below the cover, said base and side frames forming aunitary removable support adapted to hold a trans'- former tank and permit its vertical removal from said support.
2, A support for a transformer tank coinprising a flat base projecting outward from the line of support, and means for thus sus pending said base comprising a pair of in clined side members hooked at their upper ends and other side membersv connected between said inclined members and said base in a rigid lside frame formation, said side members and base forming a unitary removable support, and a retaining strap extending between said side frames and adapted to surround the transformer tank and hold it in place on said base and permit its vertical removal from said support.
3. A support for a transformer tank |com prising a flat base composed of front and rear and transverse. members in a unitary grid-like formation, means for suspending said base comprising a pair of inclined side straps hooked at theirupper ends and at-` tached to said base at their lower ends,
other strap members oonnected between said inclined side straps and said base, and means for retaining the transformer tank in place on said base, the whole forming a unitary removable support adapted to hold a transformer tank and permit its removal.
