Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE f GEORGE B. CLARKE, OF LEONARDSVILLE, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN SAFETY POCKET-BOOKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 146,232, dated January 6, 1874; application filed October 25, 1873.
To all whom it may concern: l Y
Be it known that I, GEORGE B. CLARKE, of Leonardsville, in the county of Madison and State lof New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in` Safety Pocket- Books 5 and I do hereby declare that the folilowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specication.
The nature of my invention consists in providing a pocket-book, or other receptacle for money or valuable articles, with suitable straps or equivalent devices, so that it may be connected with and form a part of the common suspender, brace, or shoulder-strap, and be worn on the person for greater security for money or other valuable articles suitable for concealment on the person, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, Iwill now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l represents an exterior view, and Fig. 2 an interior view, of a pocket-book embodying my invention. Fig. 3 is a View of a suspender to which the pocket-book is to be attached.
A represents a pocket-book, wallet, or other receptacle for money or other valuable articles, made in any of the known and usual ways. Insideof the pocket-bookA is fastened a ring, B, by any suitable means, and to this ring is sewed or otherwise permanently attached a strap, O, which projects beyond one end of the pocketbook, and is at its outer end provided with a buckle, D. Two other straps, G G, are also permanently attached to the B, and projects beyond the same end as the straps G G.
The various straps mentioned may be permanently attached to the pocket-book in any other suitable manner, if so desired; hence I do not conne myself to the ring B for this purpose.
Neither do I confine myself to the straps andV fastening devices above described, as they may be oh an ged almost indefinitely without departing from the spirit of my invention, which is simply to provide a pocket-book or other receptacle for money or valuable articles with such suitable devices that may be connected to and form a part of the suspender.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A pocketbook or wallet provided with straps and buckles, substantially as set forth, and adapted to be worn in connection with a suspender, strap, or brace, for the purpose dcscribed. p
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I aix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
AGEORGE B. CLARKE.
