L. J EANN OTTE S INGLETREE CONSTRUCTI ON Filed Dec. 28 1921 INVENTOR I LEON JEANNOTTE.
ATTORNEY Patented July li'f, i823 SING-LETBEE CONSTRUCTION.
Application filed December 28, 1921. Serial No 525,525. I
- To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEON JnANNo'rrn, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Gravelbour in the county of Moose Jaw, Province of baskatchewan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flingletree Constructions, oft which the following is a specification. y
The present invention appertains to unprovements in draft rigging and partie larly relates to the singletreeconstruction.
The principal object of the invention is to ment or retainer carried by the spring 8 and abuts against the terminal 7. Re t'erring particularly toxFigure l the numeral 8 in dicates the ,singletree which is pivotally mounted as at 4 in the yoke 5.
in operation, when it is desired to attach a tracing of the harness worn by a idraijt aniniahthe spring 8 is sprung in provide an easy and durable means for curing the traces oi the harness to the singg lc tree.
With this and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combi nation and arrangement of parts will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings andpointed out in the claim hereunto appended,
In the drawings: y
Figure l. is a perspective view illustrating my present invention. t
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary elevation illustrating the attachment of the trace with the outer terminal of the singletree.
Referring to the drawings like characters of reference designate like parts in the drawings i Referring now particularly to Figure 2, at the outer terminals of. the singletrce 3 is mounted the bracket 6 which is provided with an inwardly oilset terminal 7. numeral 8 indicates a spring member which is substantially mountedon the edge of the singletree 3 and the outer terminal thereof 9 fits over the bracket 6. The spring 8 is tensioned outwardly by the resilience of the metal of which it is formed and by means of the auxiliary compression springs 9 which are housed in a suitable casing 10.
The upper terminal oi the compression spring 9 is seated in a suitable casing-indicated by the numeral 11. The outer ter- The minal of the casing 11 bears against the spring 8. The numeral 12 indicates an abut- Wardly until a suilicient space is left inter mediate the abutment 12 and the terminal 7 to allow the entrance of the link 13 of the chain 14:, which is connected to the tracing When the link 13 engages with the terininal the spring 8 springs backwardly inte position. It will be readily apparent I that disengagement of the link 13 is prevented.
l Vhile it is believed from the foregoing description that the nature and advantages of nay invention will be readily apparent l (lssue to have it understood that the same is merely illustrative otfthe preferred embodi-i inent otniy invention to which .i do not limit myself and that a deviation from such details may he resorted teas do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention as defined by the appended claim.
Nhat I claim as new is:
A single/tree having brackets nouuted on the outerterminals thereof the outer terrninals ot the said brackets extending. in
wardly, springs mounted on the said singletree, the outer t iinals of the said springs embracing the said brackets, auxiliary coni- Dression springs adaptedv to tension the said springs outwardly, abui'nieiits carried bv the said springs and adapted to keep the said springs 1n spaced rel ation from the inwardly extending; ternunals' of the said brackets and retain trace connectionswhen attached to said terminals. 1
in testimony whereofi I hereunto aflix my.
