With the foregoing and other objectsin view which will appear as'the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts'and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a portion of a silo with this improved invention shown applied, and
F ig. 2 is a detail perspective view of one of the ladder units detached.
In the embodiment illustrated, a silo l of any ordinary stave construction is shown having hoops 2 which encircle the staves 3 and are held by adjusting devices 4 which may be in the formof turn buckles or the like.
Attached to the hoops 2 or to as many of them as may be desired are ladder sections which comprises a pair of substantially triangular shaped members 11 and 12 each constructed of heavy strap iron with the end 13 thereof lapping one of the side members 14 and secured thereto by riveting as shown at 15. These members 11 The side bars 14 ends with sockets Serial No. 579,153.
and 12 are provided at their upper ends at one corner with outwardly and down-1 wardly turned hooks 1 6 whichare designed to engage the hoops 2 of the silo to retain the ladder section in operative engagement. are provided attheir other ends 19 of a cross, rod 20, said ends fitting snugly within the sockets and being secured by riveting as shown at 21. The bases of the triangular members are positioned at right upright bars'14'anjd form" angles to the treads 18 to support a person using, the ladder.
. When the members 11 and 12 are 0011-. nected by the cross rod20, they will be held rigidly in spaced relation and the en-, 'gagement oftthe hooks 16 with the-hoops bars 14 to rest and hold the ladder section securely in position.
. With a ladderof this construction, the
2 of the silo 17 to receive the'fiattened independent sections or units 10 may be to be deher corner arranged 70' pensive enabling accessto the various hoops i parallel and spaced laterally to form sockets with a cross rod having flattened ends fitting and claim the foregoing as my own, I have'hereto affixed my signa rigidly secured 1n said sockets.
