HIERONYMUS EISELE, OF OfIAHA, EBRASKA.
:DENTAL BRDGE.
Application led August 7, 1922.
Y 0 all /w hom 'it may concern.'
Be it known that I, HmnoNYMUs Ersnnn, a citizen et the United States, residing at Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State ot Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dental Bridges, of which the following is a specification.
rllhis invention relates to means 'for removably connecting a dental bridge with two abutting teeth in such a manner that pressure on the bridge will not cause a roel;- ing` movement and resulting abrasion of the abutting teeth, and includes a pair of metallic loops tor partly encircling the abutting teeth and a pair ot curved, elastic bands tor connecting the loops with the saddle oi the bridge, the loops being constructed of elastic material so that they may lirinly Igrip the teeth when mounted thereon, elasticity ot the curved bands being of such degree that stresses will not be conununicated to the abutting teeth from the bridge,
The invention consists ot the novel construction, combination and arrangenient of parts as described herein and claimed, and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein,-
Fig. l is a view showing the inner side ot a bridge connected, removably, with two abutting teeth. lig. 2 is a plan view et the metallic parts ot a dental bridge provided with elastic teetlrgripping loops and curved, elastic bands. Fig. 3 is a view similar to that shown in l, the bridge being provided with a plurality et teeth. Fig. l a side view, showing the reverse side or the bridge and connections shown in Fig. 3.
teferring now to the drawing for a more particular description, the invention consists of a pair ot loops 5 adapted to partly encircle two abuttingl teeth 6, and a pair of curved bands 7 adapted to be secured at their outer ends to the loops 53, their inner ends being secured to the saddle S et a dental bridge, the saddle being d ispescd on the ,cum tissue 9.
'lhe advantages to be derived by use ot the invention will be generally appreciated by all familiar with the art. .it is obvious that stresses sustained by the bridge will be directed to the curved bands 7, and since these bands are constructed of elastic material, any appreciable rocking movement of the teeth 6 will be avoided.
It is well known that in instances where the ends of a metallic saddle are extended to Serial No. 580,077.
surround or engage the abutting teeth all movements of the bridge will be communicated thereto, the result being that the abutting teeth will become worn and loosened. Since, by use ol" the construction herein provided, the teeth (j are entirely separated from the bridge, and since the bands 7 are elastic, these objectionable features may be avoided.
lt will be noted that, since the loops 7 do not entirely surround the teeth (5, and since they are coi'istructed ot elastic material, they may firmly grip the teeth when the bridge is placed in operative position, and also will readily permit disengagement when it is desired to remove the bridge.
l/Vl'iile l have described construction in detail, l do not wish to be understood as limiting` myself in this respect, and changes in torni, size, proportion and minor details may be made, said changes being within the scope of the invention as claimed.
l claim as my invention,-
1. ln means for removably connecting the saddle ot a dental bridge .with a pair ot natural teeth disposed adjacent to its ends,
bands connecting the natural teeth with the saddle each band having a holder oi loop form iter engaging a natural tooth and having a curvature conforming to the shape oi the gum-tissue at the inner side of a natural tooth and being ot resilient material 'For yieldingly resisting stresses directed to the bridge.
Q'. ln means for connectingl the saddle et a dental bridge with a pair of natural teeth disposed closely adjacent to its; ends, a pair oi. loops each adapted to partly surround a natural tooth, and a pair of bands, each band having a curvature conforming to and adapted to lie upon that part ot the gum tissue in"ardl v ot a natural tooth and being connected with a loop midway between the ends thereoiI and being' connected with an end. et the saddle, each loop being resilientto permit normal jnessure upon and manual ren'ioval from a tooth, said bands being resilient ttor preventing' communications to the natural teeth ot stresses directed to the bridge.
l'n testimonv whereof, l have affixed my signature in presence ot` two witnesses.
