ATTACHMENT FOR GANDIiESTICKS AND CANDLEHOLDERS.
Application filed April 29, 1922. Serial No. 557,308.
To all to ham it may concern Be it known that I, EVA JOSEPHINE LAKE,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Greensburg, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Candlesticks and Candle holders, of which the following is a specification. I
The present invention relates to attachments for candle sticks and candle holders and has for its principal object to provide an attachment for catching the candle drippings.
A further object of the invention is to provide a cheaply manufactured device of this nature which will be simple and eflicient in construction, reliable in operation, and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and numerous other ob jects in view as will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and
the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing v Figure 1 is an elevation of the. attachment showing the same as used,
Figure 2 is a vertical section taken there through, and
Figure 3 is a transverse section taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure 2 look ing in the direction of the arrow.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that 1 designates a candle holder supporting thecandle'Q. The candle 2 has its bottom end fitted in the socket 0 or pocket 3 of the candle holder 1 and as is quite common this socket is provided with an annular flange 4 on its sides.
My attachment consists of a cup-shaped stiffening element 5 including the body por- 5 tion 6 having a central circular opening 7 therein adapted to register with the opening in the socket 3 and rest on the flange l: and an upstanding flange on the edge of the body portion as indicated at 8. mounted on the flange 8 of the stiffening element 9 and extends thereabove and therebelow for a desired distance. The lower A skirt 9 is edge of this skirt is'reinforced by a band or strip 10. It is to be noted that the flange 8 and the skirt 9 taper toward their lower ends and the skirt will be supported upon to catch the drippings can be economically replaced, when the cup-shaped member has become full. It will also be noted that numerous ornamental designs and effects may be secured by paper trimmings or drapery such as the skirt 9 so as to make the device very attractive and ornamental.
Although I have described the invention with some degree ofv particularity, it is to be understood, that the present embodiment has been disclosed onlyby way of example and that numerouschanges in form, material, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is An attachment of the class described in cluding a stiifening element provided with abodyportion having a centrally located opening and a flange upstanding from its edge, a skirt supported on the upstanding flange of the stiffening element, and a bracing element encircling the lower edge of the skirt in the manner and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EVA JOSEPHINE LAKE.
