COIN-DEPOSIT RECEPTACLE.

T all whom it may concern:

. Be it known that I, 'Josnr'rr N. BURNo, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Chicago, county of Cook, State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Coin-Deposit Receptacles, of which thetollowing is a specification.

This invention relates to coin deposit receptacles, and has particular reference to that class of apparatus adapted to be installed in restaurants and lunchrooms in which it is made a rule that the customer berequired to deposithis coin or coins covering the proposed purchase before the purchased articleis delivered by the counter man. I

An important object of the invention is to provide in a device of the character mentioned, a means whereby previously inserted money may be easily observed subsequent to its being deposited, the money being so retained after deposited that the amount incident to each of the several purchases may be readily ascertained'upon observing the coin retaining means by 'which the money for the preceding purchase is heldin view.

A further object of the invention is to so construct the various elements that they may be easily assembled to produce a strong, durable device,which is inexpensive to man ufacture' and reliable in operation.

Other objects of the invention will become apparent from the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings in which;

In order to encase the discs 17 at their peripheries there is provided a housing 21 comprising a pair of substantially circular" v bands 22 which are retained in position upon the box 5 by means of bolts or thelike 23. These encircling bands are united by means of screws or the like 24, passed through spacing washers 25, and serve to retain the two elements in the form of a rigid unit between which is arranged a coin guide '26 terminating. at oneend in a lip 27 arranged adjacent a coin slot 28 formed-in the:

It is evident that as the actuating lever 32 is operated, the discs 17 are intermittently rotated, they being rotated upon each actuation or the lever 32 a sufficient distance to bring the pockets 31 successively-into registration with the coin receiving mouth 29, and the slot 28. The pawl 40 is adapted to prevent the transparent discs 17 from rotating in a direction opposite to that caused. by the operation of the actuating lever 32 thus insrring rotation of the discs 1'? always in a given direction. In use when it is desired to make a purchase, money to the amount required is deposited into a pocket 31 registering with. the coin receiving mouth 29 after which the counter man delivers to the customer the purchased article and actuates the lever 32 causingthe pocket into, which the money has been deposited to advance through a predetermined arc to bring the next succeeding pocket into registration with the coin receiving mouth 29 ready to receive the money necessary to the next succeeding purchase. It will be noted that at all times the money incident to at least two pur- .chases may be readily ascertained by observing the pockets containing the coins which have not as yet been deposited into the drawer 6 through the coin slot 28 as a result of the intermittent rotation of the dislts 17.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

l. A coin deposit receptacle comprising a coin box, having a coin passage formed therein, a pair of discs, spacing means for said discs, divisional elements carried intermediate said discs forming a plurality of pockets, said pockets being adapted to receive coins, means for intermittently rotat ing said discs whereby said pockets are brought into registration with the passage of said box.

2. A coin deposit receptacle comprising a coin box having a coin passage formed therein, a pair of transparent discs, means for spacing said discs apart, divisional walls carried intermediate said discs, said walls forming a plurality of coin pockets intermediate said discs, a housing for said discs, said housing being provided with a coin mouth, means for intermittently rotating said discs whereby said pockets are brought into registration with said coin passage and said coin mouth.

A coin deposit receptacle comprising a coin box having a coin passage formed therein, a pair of transparent discs, means for spacing said discs apart, divisional walls carried intermediate said discs, said walls forming a plurality of coin pockets inter mediate said discs, a. housing for said discs, said housing being provided with a coin mouth, means for intermittently rotating said discs whereby said pockets are brought into registration with said coin passage and said coin mouth, and means for locking said discs against rotation in a reverse direction.

A coin deposit receptacle com arising a coin. box having a coin passage 'ormed therein, a pair of transparent discs, means for spacing said discs apart, divisional walls carried intermediate said discs, said walls "forming a plurality of coin pockets intermediate said discs, a housing -tor said discs, said housing being provided with a coin mouth, means for intermittently rotating said discs whereby said pockets are brought into registration with said coin passage and said coin mouth, and means for lockingsaid discs against rotation in a reverse direction including a spring pressed pawl adapted to successively engage said walls when said discs are rotated and brought into successive registration with said coin mouth and passage.

5. A coin deposit receptacle comprising coin box having a coin passage formed therein, a pair or" transparent discs, a hub disposed intermediate said discs, a plurality of divisional walls radiating from said hub forming a plurality of pockets around said hub and bet-ween said discs, a casing encir cling said discs, means for intermittently rotating said discs whereby said pockets are successively brought into registration with said coin mouth and coin slot, a coin guide arranged within said casing for retaining coins within said pockets until such time as they are brought into registration with said coin passage.

A coin deposit receptacle comprising a coin box having a coin passage, a shaft, a pair of transparent discs carried by said shaft, a spacing member intermediate said discs, a plurality of divisional walls intermediate said discs, said walls forming a plurality of coin pockets, an actuating, lever associated with said shaft for rotating said discs intermittently whereby said pockets are brought successively into registration with said coin mouth and said coin passage.

A coin deposit receptacle comprising a coin box having a coin passage, a shaft, a pair of transparent discs carried by said shaft, a's'pacing member intermediate said discs, a plurality of divisional walls intermediate said discs, said walls, forming a plurality of coin pockets, an actuating lever associated with said shaft for rotating said discs intermittently wherebysaid p'oclretsarje' brought successively into registration with shaft, a plurality of divsional walls interme-- diate said discs forming a plurality of pockets adaptedto receive coins, a ratchet wheel connected to said shaft, an actuating lever pivotally connected to said bracket,

9.
