To all whom it may concern:

Be it'known that I, Lnoronn NEWMAN, a resident of Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trousers, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in trousers and refers particularly to the con- W struction of the belt loops or guides attached at the waist band and the Suspender buttons and manner of attaching them, the main object being the Provision of anovel con struction of belt loop and button with its attachment, which will locate the loops and buttons in the most advantageous position to insure a more comfortable, better appearing and more desirable garment of this character.

Another object of my invention is the provision of a belt loop and button construc tion which will dispose the loops and but tons in such position that each can perform its function without interference or hindrance to the other, which will permit the use of either the belt or suspenders, or of both, as may be found desirable and which will insure a smooth fit of the waist band of the garment without producing any bear ing of the belt or buttons against the body of the wearer.

Another object of my invention is the provision of means for attaching the belt loops and buttons to trousers which will provide a stronger and more reliable attachment, which will improve the manner of attaching the loops and buttons, and which from every standpoint will enhance the efliciency, desirability and usefulness of the trousers.

To attain the desired objects my invention consists in the combination with the waist band of a pair of trousers of a novel means of attaching the belt guiding loops and buttons thereto, and further in certain novel details of construction substantially as described and claimed and as shown in the ac companying drawings, in which:

trousers being provided or equipped with my novel means for attaching the belt guiding loop and suspender buttons, the suspenders being shown in dotted lines.

My invention is of the most simple char acter and resides in the manner of attachment to the waist band A, of a pair of trousers B, the loops G, for guiding the belt D, and the suspender buttons E. lln my construction the belt guiding loop C has its 7 lower end F, bent or turned upon itself and fastened at G, while its upper end. H, is bent over and fits upon the waist band, and at said bent portion or upper end H, is disposed the suspender buttons E, which with the loop, the waist band, and the inner covering K, are all secured by the stapleshaped fastening L, whose closed portion rests against the inner covering- K, while its prongs pass through the covering, loop, waist band, and finally through the button, and are clinched as at M, to provide a reliable securing means. The buttons and loops may be secured in any other manner.

From this construction it will be observed 35 that the belt guiding loops permit free entrance and location of the belt without bean ing upon the Suspender buttons, also that the belt cannot possibly slide upon the edge of the trousers, thereby adding greatly to the comfort of the wearer; further that the suspender buttons can be used without interference with the belt loops, or such loops can be used either singly or in conjunction with said buttons and that my improvements will. not add to the cost of the trousers while greatly increasing their efficiency and desirability.

I claim:

In combination with the waist band of a of said loop, and a Suspender button disposed on the outer face of the Waist band and at the upper end of said 100p and secured thereto and to the waist band by the same fastening which secures the Waist band and loop. 10 In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
