Be it known that l, WILLIAM d; FLICK, a citizen. of the United Statesy residing at lllexandria, und State of Virginianl have invented certain new and useful .improvements in Pear cils, of which the following is a specification. f
y This invention relates to improvements in pencils of that type in which a supply of leeds .is contained in a magazine within the barrel of the pencil and the leudsarel sucessively positioned forv use and adapted to be fed from the pencil as they are Worn down, the general object' ef the invention being to provide a construction in which the leads will be accurately positioned, 'when renewal becomes necessary thus obviating the necessity of individually inserting the leads into the barrel of the pencil as in ordinary constructions.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. In a pencil, a barrel having a magazine receiving chamber in its forward portion, e ferrule removably tted to the said portion ofthe barrel and having ends of its body, it4 barrel of the pencil a lead channel in axial alinement with the barrel, 'a lead follower movable in alinement with thesaid channel, means for adjusting the-follower, and a lead magazine removably disposed within'the magazine receiving'chamber of the barrel and confined therewithin by the said ferrule, .the said magazine having' a convolute lead of the convolution of which is in alinement with the follower and the said channel.
2. In a pencil, a barrel having a ymagazine receiving chamber in its forward portion,"
