Description

J. cRNoEv I NEQKTIE HOLDER Filed June 17, l922 M member.
Patented hash. l3, lgfillt JAN CRNOEV, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
application filed. June 17,
i 71 i i I l o all W/LOIN 1/, may con/comb: i
Be it known that l, vla): Cnn'om', a citizen oi tierl'iia, residing at Saint Louis. Missouri,
have invented a certain new and nselul Tm prmemcnt in Necktie Holders oi which the Following is a tulhclear, and exact deserip tion. such as will enahlo others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and d sc the same. re'l eii'ence being; had to the acrompanying drawings forming part of this application.
My in ventionrel ates to devices of the type shown in my priorlatent No. lrlOOAitltl, issued December 20. l92lyand consists in 1mprorenients on this patented holder which wlilll jdll y the constrllotion and 'laoilitate the positioning of a necktie in relation to the collar. 7 i
Other objects of my invention are to en able the user of my device to eliminate retying and consequent wrinkling: of a necktie whenever it is desired to make a change, or the alternative of? duplicating the complete holder device. This object is oh- 2-5 tained hy making the holder in two parts,
theytie holding; part of which may he duplicated. y
In the accompanying drawiitigs which iilhistrate a preferred construction of my inpvention. and several modifications there- ()i Figure l is a front elevation of my im-r proved holder showing: it applied to a collar and having a necktie knotted thereon.
l igrure 2 is a side elevationo'tthe same. a Figure 2-3 illustrates a modification oi the collar button engaging portion of my device. j i i Figure 4: shows a different type tic carrying elements. r
Figure 5 is a side elevation of another l orm of holder mountingmember.
I Figure 6 is a vertical section through another modified: form of holder mounting o'l neck- In the preferred. construction illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, the collar button is a formed in two parts one part comprising the shank 1, head 2;, base ii-l and the other part comprising a male snap element 4:. The base 3 is providedwitlr an opening extending; transversely of the shank and slidable in this opening is an element 5, the upper part of which is bent downwardly at 6, to engage the upper edge of the collar and then bent upwardly as at? to support a,

link Son the lower end of which is pivot ally mounted one arm 9 of a Vshaped memher oit l'lexihle material. The other arm 10 extends upwardly,
A l sh'aped member of fiat material has ts arms 11. shaped to extend into the folds of the collar and its leg 12 extending downwardly in the plane normally occupied by a necktie and preferably folded so as to surround the upwardly extending arm 10 ot the V-shaped memhercarried by link 8. It will he understood that the necktie can he knotted upon the Y-shaped member independently of: the assembly of the latter with the other portions of the holder, and, it desired, a
number of Y-shaped members may he provided for the permanent knottinp of a like number of ties that is, each tie will have its individual Wme'mber which may he slipped on and off of the arm 10.
Element 5 is slidahle in the collar button to provide for adjustment to accommodate different heights of collar, and the Y-memher is slidable upon arm 10 to similarly proride for adjustment of the necktie relatively to the collar button in order that the necktie knot may be neatly seated in the collar folds.
tain the latter when desired, 1 may insure the positioning of the parts by providing 12witl1 a projection 13 adapted to enter any one ot a series of perforations 14: in arm 10. i
In the use of my devi i'c,\it will he found most comtorliahlc to place the clasp member l on the inside of: the inner neckhand A oi the shirt, placing the button base 3 on the outside of the inner shirt band, thus clasping the inner hand between parts 3 and l. The outer shirt hand and the collar hands may then he slipped over the shank of the collar button in the usual manner.
Tn the construction illustrated in Figure 3, the hook-like member of the preferred form is omitted and link 15 corresponding to link 8 oflllip'ures l and 2 is pivoted on a female clasp member 16 which is adapted to clasp on the head 17 of a rigid collar button possessing the fixedshank 18 and base 19. In this form, the friction between the curved spring); link arm 20 of the ll-shaped member and the leg of the Y-memher is presumably sufficient to retain the latter in any adjusted position.
" The :Eorni illustrated in Figure discloses a Y-member in which the arms and 22-5 are complemented by arms 24 and E25, arms 23 and being pivotally assembled at and arms 24 and being provided with mutual engaging elen'ients 27 and At the convergence of arms 24- and 25, a single spring element 29 is slidably mounted and is i'frietionaiiy engaged by the sides oi? the slot through which it passes. The upper end of element is provided with an opening: 30 which adapts it to engage the hook of the vertical member carried by the collar button.
In Figuretf 1 illustrate a collar button' bl and a hooked vertical member 32 in which the collar button is in one piece and is not detaehaliile from the hooked memher. in this form the upper part oi the hook member will go next to the wearers neck although slightly spaced therefrom by the base of the button. Mounted upon the head 33 of the collar button are pointed books 34, adapted to eiigage the inner tare ol the outer :told oil a sott oollar to hold the frontoi' the latter together.
In Figure a further modili ation ol my invention is disclosed, the collar button and hooked member being here united in a single vertical element 35, the lower end of which is bent outwardly and terminates in a head 36 large enough to prevent unwonted retraction of the head through the button holes of collar and shirt band. Collar holding hooks 37 are formed from a spring wire device andare slidably nmunted upon element @n this device which is fiat I mount a collar holding device comprising two hook portions 37 united by a spring seotionE-SS which provides suliieient flexibility between the hook portion to enable them to 'be moved :t'rom the 'full line position to that shown in dotted line which permits them to 'lieslipped ofi and on member t 'llhesc parts are 'tOl'l'llttl from a single length of sprinej wire. it link 53$) limits the outwaid movementoft the hooks which the tension spring 38 tends to give them.
Inall ot the different torn'is oi? my derice the adjustable and i ntereh-angeable l? atures referred to in the beginning of the "specification are retained. and the manufac- .turi-ne' simplified b the utilization of tiat material instead oft-the wire construction 7 ontemplato ueh'additionalmodifications of my invent-hereol as expressed in the appended claims.
