To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. GROVER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Bay Shore, in the county of Suffolk and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Drip Device, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip'- tion.

This invention relates to improvements in drip devices, and more particularly to a device for dripping fruit and the like in the manufactureV of jelly, an object of the invention being to provide a drip device which will bek entirely sanitary, which will protect the drip from contact with dust, dirt or insects and which will most efiicientlyA perform the functions for which it 1s intended.

A further object is to provide a device of the character stated, which can be conveniently located at any point desired, which will support the assembled elements of the device in operative position, and which can be folded and packed or stored in a small space when not desired for use.

fith these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novelfeatures of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the parts in folded position.

1 represents a ring supported' on any desired number of legs 2, the latter being pref- Y erably connected to the ring 1 by means of hinges 3. The ring 1 and the legs 2, above referred to, may constitute a tripod,l but, of course, the invention is not limited to the particular number of legs.

Each leg 2 is provided on its inner face` with a hook 4 and a platform 5 is provided with perforated'lugs 6 to engage over the hooks 4 and hold the platform in position and maintain the legs in their extended positions, thereby forming a strong and rigid support.

The platform 5 is preferably of two halves connected by hinges 5 so as to allow the platform to be folded when not in use, and the legs 2, above referred to, swing, inwardly so that they will occupy but small space when collapsed.

A drip pan 7 is vsupported on the platform 5 and a drip bag 8 is supported by the ring 1. The upper end of the drip bag is positioned through an opening 9 of ring 1 and at its open end is provided with a series of eyes 10 adapted to be positioned over headed screws 11 or other suitable devices secured to the ring 1. A protecting casing V12 open at both ends is also projected through the opening 9 draw string 14.

The bag 8 and the casing 12 may, of course, be of any suitable material, but` l preferably employ a white fabric which can be readily washed and conditions after use. j

A funnel 14 is projected through the opening 9 within the upper end of the drip bag 8 and frictionally engages the fabric bag Sand casing 12 to form a tight juncture of the parts. The casing 12 is provided with tapes 15 which may be secured around the legs 2 to hold the casing away from the bag 8, and a tape 16 may be secured to one of the llegs so as to hold the legsin folded or collapsed position when the device is not in use, as shown in Fig. 3.

In Fig. 3 the casing 12 is shown secured within the ring 1, but ordinarily this casing may be removed from the ring, but this is entirely for the user to decide.

The'operation is as follows: The fruit or other material to be dripped is poured throughthe funnel 14 into thebag 8 and will drip through the bag 8 into the pan 7.. Any suitable covering may be positioned over the funnel 14 to prevent the passage of dust, dirt, and insects into the funnel,

When the dripping operation is ended, the pan 7 can be removed and emptied and returned to the platform 5. VAfter the fun- Y nel 14 is removed, the bag 8 can be disconnected from the screws 11 and with its pulp dropped into the pan 7 and' conveniently removed to any place desired for discharge. The construction therefor prevents the necessity of handling the stained bag 8, which would result in staining the fingers of the operator, and the entire operation can be conveniently carried out in a clean and sanitary manner. Various slight changesmay be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from the invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth but consider myself at liberty to malre such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
