MUSIC-CABINET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 30, 1920.
Application filed. May 28, 1919. Serial No. 300,425.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, V ALTER G; LEONARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Music-Cabinets, of which the following is a specification. 1
My object is to make a music cabinet, and my invention consists of the novel features herein shown, described and claimed.
Figure 1 is a perspective of a complete music cabinet embodying the principles of my invention with the door closed.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the cabinet shown in Fig. 1 with the door open.
Fig. 3 is a vertical cross section on the line 33 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a perspective of one of the music holder slides.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the
- music holder slide 1 consists of a flat rectangular board 2 and a cleat 3 nailed across its rear lower edge. The stationary cabinet, or stand 4: consists of a back wall 5, side walls 6 and 7 extending forwardly from the back wall 5, a bottom 8 rigidly mounted between the side walls 6 and 7 against the back wall 5, a top 9 rigidly mounted upon the side walls and back wall, and a door 10 hinged to the forward edge of the side wall 7 to form the front wall. Pairs of angle irons 11, 12, 13, 14:, 15, 16, 17 and 18 are secured to the inner faces of the side walls 6 and 7 to form slideways for the music holder slide 1, the pairs of angle irons being progressively spaced apart at their rear ends and substantially evenly spaced apart at their front ends, so that the upper pair 11 is substantially level, the next pair 12 slightly inclined and so on down until the last pair 18 is considerably inclined, the object being to bring the labels upon the music boxes in position to be readily seen, and so that all the labels may be seen from the same position.
The music holder slides 1 are mounted upon the pairs of angle irons, and the collections of music containerslt), 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 are adapted to fit the music holder slides 1, so that a certain number of the containers will fit upon a slide, and so that a single container as 25 may be withdrawn from the slide, or so that the entire collection as 26 may be withdrawn with the slide. The cleats 3 serve to hold the containers in position when it is desired to withdraw the entire collection with the slide.
The labels are located upon the outer ends of the containers and the arrangement of the slideways holds the slides to hold the containers upon radial lines to the eyes of the operator at a proper height and distance so as to avoid the necessity of the operator crouching down to view the labels upon the lower containers.
Various changes may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention as claimed.
I claim:
A music cabinet comprising a back wall, side walls extending forwardly from the back wall, a bottom 1I101111l38l between the side walls against the back wall, a top mounted upon the side walls and back wall, a door hinged to the forward edge of one side wall, angle irons secured to the inner faces of the side walls and forming slideways, said angle irons being progressively spaced apart at their rear ends and sub stantially evenly spaced apart at their front ends, so that the upper pair is substantially level, the next pair slightly inclined and so on down until the last pair is considerably inclined, music holder slides mounted upon the pairs of angleirons, and cleats across the rear sides of the music holder slides.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to! this specification.
WALTER G. LEONARD.
