Be it known that IQ'WiLL'rlir Hi Rriroriiins,`
a citizen of' the .United States, residing at Hammond; in =the county' oiiLalre and State of Indiana, have invented new'an'd useful l Improvements in l/llire-Coating' Apparatus,
of which Athe following lis av speciiication;A
' Thisinvention relates .to apparatus for appl'ying'a'coating'o paint or other liquid pre-serving material to 'fence wiresfto protect thesame'from'the deleterious effects of eX- posure to the elements;"and` more 'particularly an apparatus 'of this kind which operatesvon thel wires without` removing them from 'their supports. The apparatus oper#4 ates by being carried along aA wire,V the paint orv other protective coating material being automaticallyapplied.
`The inventionlias for 'itsobjeet-to pro-Y videA alsiniple, Yelic'ient and easily controlled apparatus of the kind stated, and to this end itwconsists in :a novel combination and arL rangement of pvrts tobe' hereinafter de- 1 scribed" arid lclaimed.
In order that `the invention maybe better. understood, Vreference is had to vthe accoinpa'nying` c lrawingJ forming appart of. this speciication;V andln said drawing;
and
parts broken away in' both views.
eferring specifically to the drawing', the'v lbody'of the apparatusis in theforin of a rectangular receptacle 5 of` a sizeto hold? a;
suitablel quantity.v of paint or otherlv liquid coating material shown 'at' infFig: 2;l The' front and rear lwalls 7 and' :7a lof the receptacle'are rei1iforeed-by`straps 8and9, and the latter carriesa' handle 10 Vfor ,the 'hand of thetoperator; d The top of the receptaclehas a doorll hinged at 125 and" making a tight fit with the receptacle top edge toprevent the liquid from splashing out.
The front wall V7 of the receptacle carries a bracket 13 which supports a guide roller 14 for the device, adapted to ride on the wire W to be coated. The bracket 13 is twisted to form a base l5 which is riveted or otherwise secured to the strap 8 and the wall of the receptacle. In the front and rear walls of the receptacle are alined apertures 16 through which the wire `W passes. These apertures are so located that the wire passes across the inside of the receptacle above the level of the liquid 6 therein.
