Description

ELMER G. LANTZ, 0F TILLAMOOK, OREGON.
OIL-BURNER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed May 20, 1919. Serial No. 298,356.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELMER G. LANTz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tillamook, in the county of Tillamook and State of Oregon, have invented new and useful Improvements in Oil-Burners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an attachment for oil burners and the principal object of the invention is to provide a casing adapted to be located at the door opening of a stove and receiving the nozzle portion of the burner.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for taking the air from said casing and delivering it adjacent the point of combustion.
While my invention may be used on different kinds of burners, it is more particularly designed for use with the burner forming the subject matter of Letters-Patent of the United States No. 1,241,404, granted to me on September 25th, 1917.
The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, leference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of a burner and my attachment connected therewith;
Fig. 2 is a front view of the attachment; and
Fig. 3 is a plan view thereof.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view of a burner and my attachment connected therewith.
In these views 1 indicates the generator pipe of the burner through which the oil passes to the nozzle. This nozzle projects the flame against the spreader 3 which is movably mounted on the pipe 1. The construction of the burner forms no part of my invention and the details thereof will not be described. My invention consists in placing a casing 4 around the body part 1 of the nozzle and this casing is carried by a plate 5 which is adapted to be secured within the stove, preferably at a point around the door opening so that the draft from said opening will pass into the casing. As shown, the plate is provided with an opening 6 and the open side of the casing registers with this opening. suitably secured to the plate. The inside of the casing is provided with an opening 7 to receive the end of the pipe 1 and with a double opening 8 through which the nozzle 1x projects. Thus the body part of the nozzle lies within the casin The casing supports a pair of pipes 9 which have their ends suitably held tothe inner face of the casing one on each side of the double opening and the free ends of said pipes are located adjacent the flame spreader so as to deliver the air at the point of combustion.
It will thus be seen that the Aburner and attachment may be installed within the stove without the moving or interfering with the door thereof. Also that the casing will hold the nozzle out of the way 0f the door. The casing also helps to keep the nozzle hot so that there is less tendency for the vapor to ciol as it passes through the body of the nozz e.
What I claim is 1. An attachment for oil burners comprising a casing having openings therein to receive the burner and tubes supported by said casing for delivering the air therefrom to the point of combustion.
2. An attachment for burners, comprising a supporting plate having an opening therein, a casing having one side open with the open side secured around said opening, the other side of the casing having openings therein to receive the burner, and a tube carried by said other side for delivering the air from the casing to the point of combustion.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature.
ELMER G. LANTZ.
The sides of the casing are Patented Feb. 24, 1920.
