UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIGE.
WILLIAM GEORGE HAROLD FINCI-I,.OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
J WIRELESS-RECEIVING AND RECORDING APPARATUS.
Be it known that I, WILLIAM G. H.
'FINGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wireless. Receiving and Recording Appa-" ratus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in wireless telegraphic recordin apparatus, and consists of a sim 1e and e cient means of this character which will record wireless messages for'any distances for which the apparatus is designed.
The invention consists of a-simple and efficient apparatus of this nature, having various details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and thenspecifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accom-v panying drawings which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which:
Figure l is a central sectional view through the receiving and recording apparatus, and
Fig. 2 is a diagrammatic view of a wire f less telegraph receiving circuit, in connection with which the apparatus is used.
Reference now beinghad to the details of the drawings by letters: v
A designates a 3000 ohm receiver mounted f upon a suitable supportB, and C is a diasignature.
\ Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Fel a; 1'2, 1920,,
Application filed 11113 2, 1919. Serial No. 308,089.
phragm forming a part of the receiver and which has a contact point D projecting centrally therefrom and through an opening in the receiver. A binding post E mounted upon the. base F has electrical connections H with the diaphragm, and other binding posts, designated respectively by letters -I' and K, have electrical connections with the windings of the electro-magnet receiver. A post L rising from the base and to which a binding post N is connected, supports an adjustable contact point 0.
In operation, when the apparatus is connected in a detector circuit, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, incoming signals or electrical impulses, will cause the electro-magnet of the receiver to become energized and the diaphragm being attracted thereby, will cause the contacts D and O to make and break according to the length of the received impulses, thereby opening and closing the local relay circuit and causing the armature of the relay to make and break circuit, according to the length of received impulses upon a tape recorder.
By the provisionof a switch in'the relay circuit the'latter may be'opened when not in use, thereby saving battery energy.
' What Iclaim to be new is: f
An apparatus for recording wireless messages comprising an electro-magnet receiver including a supporting member with a flanged shellfixed thereto, and a yielding diaphragm with a-circufnferential flange,
having threaded connection with the 011'- cumference of the shell, a contact point projecting ceri'tr'ally from said diaphragm, an
adjustmg screw and mounting therefor, said screw having a contracted contactpoint.
In testimony whereof Ihereu'nto alfix' my I WILLIAM GEORGE HAROLD FINGE-
