Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,806, dated November 5, 1872.

To all whom it may concern.- 1

Be it known that we, WILLIAM E. ORAN- DALL, of the city, county, and State of New York, and JESSE A. CRANDALL, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Profile Rocker; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which drawing- Figure l is a side elevation of our improved rocker, and Fig. 2 is a top view.

This invention relates to childrens rockers, and especially to that class which is described in Letters Patent No. 100,121, granted by the United States February 20, 1870, to William E. Orandall, where the sides consist of profile frames united together to form a body by means of a seat and foot-board; and it consists in a childs rocker composed of profile frames, so arranged and constructed that the bodies themselves of the profile or outlines of which the frames are composed form the rocking surfaces, thereby dispensing with independent rockers. It consists further in the arrangement of arm pieces on the upper edges of the profile frames.

The letter A in the drawing designates the profile frames arranged parallel with each other and connected to each other to form the body of the rocker by means of a seat, B, a footboard, 0, and a toy-box, D, arranged between the frames in suitable positions, as shown in the drawing, the box D being placed in front of the seat to guard a child from falling forward out of the seat. The profile frames representing horses are so constructed that the bellies and legs of the same represented by the frames form the rocking-surfaces, the lloofs represented by the said frames forming stops for limiting the motion in rocking. Each of the profile frames is formed or provided with saddles, as shown, so as to form a seat similar to the ordinary hobby-horse. The letter E designates arm pieces arranged on the upper edges of the profile frames opposite the seat B. Their object is to provide sufficient elevation of the frames alongside of the seat to secure safety without disturbing the natural outlines of the profiles at that part; and the arm pieces, therefore, are made additional to the profile frames, being merely connected thereto at the ends or other convenient points of the arm pieces, while they are (intermediate such points of connection) separated therefrom so as not to impair the natural outlines of the profile.

Among the characteristic features of our invention is that the parts composin g the rocker are each connected together by screws or bolts so as to be readily taken apart for packing and transportation.

What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
