FLY-runs. HOLDER.
To all 'wkom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM Humans,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Condon, in'the county of Gilliam and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper Holders,
- of which the following is a specification.
go of construction may be restorted to without The holder'com rises be of any maternal construction or size. T'hisboard is adapted to be suspended in any .vided at the various positions according to the direction The invention provldes means'for catching winged insects, such as flies, mosquitos, gnats and the like so as to rid rooms and other places' of abode of such annoying pests. p
For catching flies "and other winged insects, paper or other suitable sheet material is provided having one side coated with an a adhesive, such as liquid insect alightlng thereon 1s entangled and glue, whereby an prevented from escaping. v
The present invention provides novel means for holding the glue covered Orentangling sheet in proper and exposed position for ensnaring and catching flies and other wingedinsects. a
The drawing illustrates (a, preferred embodiment of the invention; however, it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions, various changes in the form, proportion, and minor details departing from the-nature of the invention as claimed hereinafter. 3 I ,Referring to the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a holder for a sheet of fly paper embodying the inventlon. p a
Fig. 2 is a top view thereof. Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in both views of the drawing jbytlike reference characters. j f
a board which may mannerso as to eipose both sides and there b admit. of a sh et of fl' a or bein a pii f Asf-gindiiat din Fig. '1 anopeni'ngx2 is pro: upper end of the board. 1 to receive a suspending strand'such. as a cord,
ed' to each side thereo most clearly thereby adimtting of the board assuming of air'currents. y Cleats or strips are applled to opposite vertical edge portions ofthe board or frame; 1 and are rabbeted on their nner-facesad acent their inner vertical edges, as indicated Specification of Letters Patent. Application iiled November 12, 1918. Serial No. 262,158.

t is to be understood that a sheet strips or cleats 3 may be of any material and may be attached .to the vertical edge per-- tions of the board or frame 1 in any manher. The strips 3 serve as reinforcing" Y means for bracing the vertical edge portions of the board 1, thereby admitting of such board consisting of comparatively thin material such as veneer, paste board, or the like. The fastening ineans'fielnployed for securing the strips .or cleats 3 may pass through or frame 1 and through the outer thickened edge portions of the strips applied to oppo I site sides of the board, thereby securing the severalparts together.
Ordinary fly paper is coated upon one side with a glue preparation which provides a sticky surface for th?l larly when the fly paper 1s arranged in vertical position. To catch the drippings,- a
trough or tray 17 is .provided and 18 se-' lar-shaped pieces through which fastenings 8 pass to retain the trough in position.
In practice a holder constructed substanthe material comprising the board,

The construction is, such admit ofthe' sheet being easily placed in position and easily changed when desired so that a sheet of fly paper when rendered unsuitable for further e- The foregoing ective service may be 1. -quickly replaced by a new sheet, the drippings collecting in the trough .7 may be and drawing has reference to what may be considered,
form of my invention. It is to be understood that I may I make such changes in, construction and arrangement and combination-of materials, dimensions, 1 et mm. as may prove expedient and fall within the scope of the appended claim.
It is noted that the invention may be utilized as means for receiving the usual poison paper which is placed in dishes containing water and disposed upon tables and other suitable supporting means. The poison paper may be placed in position and its lower edge allowed to dip into water contained in the trough 7. By suspending the holder it is out of the reach of children and domestic pets.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new and desire to secureby Letters Patent is A device of the character specified, comprising a board, rabbeted strips at the vertical edges of both sides of the board, a trough closed at its ends and projecting beyond opposite sides of the board with its closed ends embracing the edges of the lower end of the board and fastenings passing through the closed ends of the trough and entering the edge portions of the board and pivotally connecting the trough to the board.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM DAVID HUGHES.
