Be it known that I, J OSEPH Knnns, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Bedford Hills, county of Westchester, and. State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Clothes-Hanger,

of which the following is a full, clear, and

exact description.

This invention relates to clothes hangers. More particularly the invention appertains to clothes hangers and hat hooks which may be secured to cylindrical objects and so grouped about the object as to permit clothes and hats to be hung thereon for the purpose of drying. V

A broad object of my invention is to provide a hat and clothes hanger which is installed upon the ordinary type of water heating boiler usually found in the home. 7

An object of the invention is to provide a clothes and hat hanger and rack which will be clamped upon a water heating boiler for holding clothes adjacent, the boiler such that heat radiating from the boiler will be utilized for warmin and drying clothes.

Vith the above and other ob ects in View my invention has relation to a certain arrangement and combination of parts, an example of which is described in the following specification pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 illustrates a plan view of the hat and clothes hanger applied to a water heating boiler.

Fig. 2 shows a sectional view taken upon the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, and illustrates a hat hook embodied as a part of my invention.

Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken upon the line 3-3 of Fig. 1 showing the clothes hanger rod in detailed view.

Fig. 5 illustrates a form of adapter link used in connection with my invention.

.B-eferring now more in particular to the drawings, the numeral 1 points out any cylindrical device upon which it may be de sired to install the hat and clothes hanger and rack comprising this invention, and in particular points out a water heating boiler of the domestic type usually found in the home. The boiler is usually connected up with the heating range, or provided with other suitable means for heating the Water. The water heating boiler generally comprises substantially alarge vessel capable of holdlng, a sufficient quantity of water for lasting a. family or families for a considerable period and when the water thereof is heatec this boiler radiates an adequate supply 'of heat for drying clothes. My invention particularly relates to means for utilizing this heat in drying clothes and other household utilities.

A band of chain or other suitable material 2 encompasses the boiler and is used-as the basis 1 for. supporting the several clothes hanging racks and hooks. This chain band is provided with clamp brackets 3 attached to each end thereof. A bolt 4 joins the clamps together and tightens the chain band upon the boiler.

A plurality of clothes hanging rods 6 are supported by the chain band and radiate from theboiler. A number of hat hooks 7 are fitted to the chain band and project from the boiler for the purpose of receiving hats, coats or other articles tobe hung thereon.

A feature of this invention resides in the particular form of attachable and detachable, and foldable hanger rod and coat hook. The inner end of the rod is fitted with a metal bracket comprising an extended arm 8 integrally formed with a hook 9.. The

extended arm is provided with an open clamp ring 10 such that the rod may be introduced into the opened members 10 after which they will be tightly closed therearound securing the rod to the bracket. A screw 11 may be used to secure the rod to the bracket, or it may be preferable to employ a small sharp barb made integral with the metallic fixture and adapted to embed itself in the wooden rod.

The chain band 2 comprises a well known form of sprocket chain links of the detachable type, such that the length of the chain band can be increased or decreased for fitting around difierent sized boilers. The chain band will be provided with a form of adapter link 14 for the purpose of receiving the particularly designed fitting employed in connection with the clothes hanger rod and hat hooks. This adapter link is shown in Figs. 4 and 5, and comprises .a link body portion 14 having a loop 15 integrally formed therewith, the cylindrical body 15 of the loop ranging parallel with and spaced apart from the cylindrical body 14. The hook 9 of the attachment fixture supporting the rod is insertedinto the loop of the adapter link such that the lower portion of the hook rests in contact and very substantially fixed upon the boiler for holding a heavy weight'of clothing or other material; The'rod can be easily and quickly removed from the adapter link or it may bev folded downwardly in position adjacent the wall of the'boiler as indicated Thus the rod can be either removed or folded down out of the'way when not in use. a

The hat and coat hook 7 is designed to fit'upon the same adapter link. The hook v 7 is in integral formation with a'hook fix tur'e'17. .Thehook 7 is confined in service position as illustrated byhooking over the loop of the adapter I link and'lying between the lugs thereof. These lugs 'function' to confine the hook 7 and rod 6 in proper position, and' 'prevent their lateral displace-- ment or movement relative to the supporting band or chain. This hookca'nbe removed at will ina similar manner to the removal of theafore'described rod;

This forniof clothes and'hat hanger Will adequately fill a long-felt want for household utility devices ofxthis character. It can be inexpensively produced andput to great advantage in rainy weather for drying out clothes andhousehold articles.

Having thus described my invention, what I;claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. Ina clothes hanger device, comprising in combination; a section of chain links, adapter links'employed in the chain section, a rod, an attachment fixture carried on the rod and inserted in the adapter'link.

'2. A clothes hanger rack to be secured upon a water boiler, comprising in combination; a section of chain, adapter links employed in the section of chain, a loop formed on the adapter link, a hook fixture inserted in" the loop of the adapter link, and a rod attached to the fixture.

3. A clotheshanger device'for' installation'upon a water boiler, a section of chain, clamp brackets attached; to the chain for clamping the section of chain around a water boiler, an adapter link, a loop formed on the adapter link, lugs formed on the adapter link opposite the loop, a rod, and a hook formed on the rod to be confinedin positionwithin the loop and between the lugs.

4L. Ina hat and coat hanger for use in connection with a water boiler, comprising in combination; a band clamped upon-the water boiler, an adapter carried by the band, a lop formed on the adapter, a set of lugsintegrally formed on the adapter "opposite the loop, a clothes hook, and a supporting hook suspended from the'loopand confined between the-lugs.
