THE COLQfMBIA PLANOCIRAP UNITED sT TEs PATENT OFFICE.
THOMSON MAO, OF SWISSVALE, PENNSYLVANIA.
TABLE ARTICIiE.
iTO all whom it may concern:
more particularly to a device of this general character especially designed and adapted for use in the dispensing of milk and sugar,
and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved article comprising a containing body divided into two compartments, and wherein the separating partition extends above the containing body to afford a shield to prevent the contents of one compartment accidentally entering the second compartment either upon the filling of a compartment or upon a removal of the contents. 1
A further object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device of this general character wherein the contain.- ing body is divided into two compartments, one of said compartments being forwardly disposed and adapted to contain milk or other liquid, and the second compartment rearwardly disposed and adapted, preferably, to contain sugar, and wherein the partition is arranged and constructed to prevent the contents of the rear compartment passing into the forward compartment during' a pouring operation for the contents of the forward compartment and whereby the milk or other liquid when being poured into the front compartment is prevented from splashing or otherwise entering within the rear compartment.
An additional object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device of this general character including a containing body provided with an outstanding handle for manipulating the body, and wherein said body isintersected by a partition disposed substantially at right angles to the radial plane in which the handle is positioned, so that said containing body is divided into a forward or front compartment. and a rear or back compartment, and which compartments are adapted to contain different materials.
The invention consists in the details of Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented SeptQ16, 1919.
Application filed January 11, 1919.' Serial No. 270,707. I
construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved table article whereby certainimpor- 'tant advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler,'less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinaftercmorefully set forth. I t
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In orderthat my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying, drawings, whereinz Figure 1 is a view in top plan of a. table article constructed in accordance. With' an' embodiment of my invention; a I v Fig. 2 is a view in ,frontjelevation of the deviceas herein disclosed ';',and
' "Fig.1,3l is an-sectional view taken axially through the device as herein embodiedf, As disclosedin the accompanying drawings, B denotes' a. c'ont ain-ing body of, any
desired configuration and" dimensions, and which has its upper end open and its closed end provided; with, a supportingbase 1 so 1 that; the device may be readily positioned upon a table or other supporting surface. The open end portion of the'body B isprovided with a discharge spout 2, and which portion of the body B is termed the front of d the body. Extending outwardly from the rear portion of the body and preferably in the same vertical or radial plane as the spout 2 is a handle or hand grasp 3.
Rearwardly of its axial center the body B is intersected by a transversely disposed partition 4 herein disclosed as integrally formed with the body B and said partition 4: divides the containing body B into the front compartment F and the rear compartment R.
The partition 4 is substantially concavoconvex with its concave face forwardly directed or disposed in a direction toward the compartment F or the spout 2 and the upper end portion 5 of the partition extends above the upper or open end of the body B and said extended portion 5, as herein embodied, partially overlies the upper end of the compartment R as is particularly illustrated in Fig. 3 of the accompanying drawings.
In the present embodiment of my invention, the compartment R is of less capacity than the compartment F, and said compartment R is primarily adapted to contain a supply of sugar and an amount equal to the quantity necessary for one days use, and is of a depth suflicient to permit the requisite insertion of a spoontherein sothat the contents of said compartment B may be readily removed when the occasions of practicerequire.
"By. having the partition 4 substantially concavo-convex with the concave face there-v adapted to contain liquid, preferably milk,
and it will be at once. self evident that the extension 5 ofthe partition 4 readily permits the contents of the compartment F to be poured therefrom through the spout 2 with the substantial elimination of the possibility of the contents of the compartment R passing into the compartment F. It is also'to be stated that the particular formation or curvature of the partition 4 and the extension 5 thereof serves as a shield or guard to prevent the milk or other liquid as it poured into the compartment, F from spattering or otherwise aecidentally' entering the compartment R.
' From the foregoing description, it is thought to beobvious that a table article constructed in accordance with my invencopies of this patenti hay be obtained: for
tion is particularly well adapted for use by reason 'of the convenlence and facility with Vwhich it maybe assembled and operated and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and a discharge spout, and a partition intersecting' the body at substantially right angles to the radial plane in which the spout'is arranged and dividing the body into two compartments, said partition being substantially concavo-convex in form with its con iWe face disposed in a direction away from the spout, said partition extending beyond the open end of the body with the upper portion partially overlying the compartment at theside of the partition remote from the spout. p V V In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses i a THOMSON M O- itne ses I.
