HEATING-STOVE.
To all 'whom t may concern Be yit known that I, Josixn C. SUTTON, a citizen of' the United States, residing at Mount Pleasant, in the county of Isabella and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating-Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates in gene 'al to stoves having central air flues and more particularly to means for renioving ashes within the ash pit from around the base of said flue.
Another object of the invention is the production of a rotary ash-discharge member in the form of a scraper which is revoluble around the lower end of the air flue and consists of an annular band and an annulus connected together by radial plate like arms, whereby when the scraper is rotated the ashes within the kash pit will be moved to a convenient point where the same may be discharged.
lVith these objects in view, together with others which will appear as thevdescription proceeds, the invention resides in the novel formation, combination and arrangement of parts, all as will be described more fully hereinafter, particularly pointed out in the claim, and illustrated in the `accompanying drawings, in which:

In the drawings, 10 indicates the base of the stove which, as shown in the drawings is cylindrical and somewhat shallow and serving also as an ash pit for the stove. The betteln 13 may be integrally lormed therewith or, as shown in the drawings, made from a separate plate suitably bolted to the base and having formed therethrough at one side of the center an ash discharge opening 14:, see Fig. 3, which may be ol an elongated rectangular shape as in said figure or of' other shape most convenient and suitable for the purpose. Below the opening 1l and mounted in guides of well known f'orm is a cut-off gate 15 which upon opening, permits the ashes to be discharged therethrough into a receptacle placed upon the floor below the stove, the ash discharge device being described later.
Supported upon the base 10 and extending for a suitable distance upwardly therefrom is a fire pot 16, the walls of which converge from above downwardly and are joined at the bottom to au outwardly flaring ring 1T, from the outer edge of which depends a flange 18 which extends over the top of' the ash pit 1() and holds the tire pot in position on the base. lVithin the tire pot and at the bottom thereof where it joins the ring 17 is a grate 10 rotatably supported upon au inwardlyv projecting flange Q() integral with the fire pot, said flange being cut away at the front of the stove as at 20a to permit the passage therethrough of the grate rotating means. The grate rotating means comprises a toothed wheel 21 fixed to a shaft 22 turning in bearings 23 extending upwardly from the bottom 13 ot the stove, said shaft projecting through the front of' the ash pit 10 and having a polygonally formed outer end to receive a c 'ank or other form of handle by which the wheel 21 may be turned. Rising from the top of the fire pot 16 is the body Q5 of' the stove made in the form of a cylindrical drum with a door 26 at one side and an angular flange 27 secured to the bottom by means of which it, is supported on the fire pot. On the top of' the drum 25' is an outwardly projecting flange 28 which supports the top of the stove, which is made as shown in Fig. 1 of two semi-circular plates 29 and 30, each plate having a lug 31 on one end through which a pivot bolt y Patented Aug. 26, 19119.
