JOHN H. HAHN, 0F SAUK CITY, WISCONSIN.
COUNTER DISPLAY CASE Aim CABINET.
Application filed November 13, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN H. HAHN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sauk City, in the county of Sauk and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Counter Display Cases and Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to counter display cases and cabinets, the object of the invention being to produce a device of the char-- acter referred to, especially designed for displaying watches, knives, razors, spark plugs, and other small articles in a convenient, safe and attractive way, the cabinet being also designed to contain a reserve stock of the articles on display, enablin articles sold from the display tray or racr to be replaced from the reserve stock.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as herein described, illustrated and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the display case.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view looking to ward the rear thereof.
Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section through the cabinet or display case.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the combined rack and display supporting member, detached from the casing.
The display cabinet in one of the preferred forms thereof comprises a box like casing which is shown attractively in the form of the radiator of a motor vehicle.
The casing of the cabinet comprises a glazed front Wall 1, the upper portion 2 of which is of arched or segmental formation as shown. The casing also comprises a bottom wall 3, side walls 1, and a rear wall 5 which is displaceable or adapted to be opened to give accessto the interior of the casing, said back wall 5 being shown in Fig. 2 in the form of a door hinged to the back of the casing as shown at 6.
The interior of the cabinet is divided into a front display compartment 7 and a rear reserve stock holding compartment 8 by:

means of a vertical partition or false back 9 which may be of sheet metal or other suitable material.
Normally contained within the display compartment 7 is a combined article holding tray and supporting rack 10 which stands vertical and is formed around three of the sides thereof with a rim or flange 11. The combined tray and support is preferably lined with plush or velvet as indicated at 12. At its top, the combined tray and supporting rack has a combined cap piece and prop or support 13 which projects rearwardly from the main body of the rack or tray 10, and, as shown in Fig. 1 serves to support the body of the tray or rack at a convenicnt angle for the display of the articles contained thereon, also facilitating the removal and replacement of said articles which are shown as secured to the tray or supporting rack by means of hooks 14. The cap 13 of the device corresponds in shape with the upper arched or segmental portion 2 of the casing and has a knob 15 extending upwardly therefrom which is adapted to be grasped between the fingers for the purpose of removing and replacing the combined cap piece and prop or support which also acts as a closure for the top of the casing.
In withdrawing the tray or rack from the casing, it is not necessary to disturb the articles carried thereby, nor the reserve stock in the rear compartment of the casing. If a sale is made, the salesman may replace any article or articles removed from the display section from the reserve stock, the latter being removed from the casing by opening the door 5. By glazing the front of the cabinet, the articles may be conveniently and attractively displayed without liability of their being removed or disturbed from their hooks by a prospective purchaser. The construction of the cabinet is prefer.- ably such as to render the same dust-prob and may be finished in any enainel or varnish or manner desired.
I claim':'
' A counter display cabinet embodying a box-like casing having a glazed front, a displaceable back, bottom and side walls,
and a vertical partition dividing the intop thereof a backwardly projecting propterior into a display compartment and a ping flange which constitutes a closing cap reserve stock compartment, and a vertically for the casing when the parts, are assembled. movable and displaceable combined article In testimony whereof I afiix my signature. 10 supporting rack and tray arranged between said front and partition and having at the JOHN H. HAHN.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,
