To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ERNEST HEITMAN, subject of the Emperor of Germany, resident of West Hoboken, county of Hudson, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washline-Supports, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in clothes line supports, and has as its principal object the provision of means, combined with a pole or mast, whereby several lines may be operated, the same being disposed parallel.

Another object is to provide means whereby lines in opposite directions may be disposed at the same time.

These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which 7 Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the application of the invention.

Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken on line 14 of Fig. 3.

In the drawings, the numeral 10 designates a window, such as is common in flats, tenements or apartments, in which domestic laundry work is performed, and the washed articles extended to be dried and aired on lines supported partially from the window and from a post or mast 11, which is disposed in the yard some distance from the house and which frequently serves as a support for lines not only by parties living above or below, but also accommodating others living in oppositely disposed houses.

In the present invention pulleys 14 are attached to the sides of the window frame, on each side with which are engaged lines 16, the same passing over pulleys 18, attached by hooks 19, to a transverse rail or bar 20, preferably formed of a tube as indicated, and which has oppositely disposed hooks 21, so as to accommodate families living upon the other side of the post.

Also, secured to the sill of the window is another pulley 15, over which extend lines 23, the same running over pulleys 24, attached to the center of the bar by a hook 25, and it is to be noted that each of the lines are disposed at uniform intervals'in parallel, in place of converging to a single hook attached to a pole direct as is common.

Rigidly affixed to the interior and centrally 0f the bar 20, are a pair of bands 30, having arms 32, containing a plurality of perforations 31, receivable through which are screws or other securing means 33, by means of which the arms are rigidly attached to the post 11, and it is to be noted that the arms 32 are disposed angularly with respect to the bar 20, thereby accommodating the arms to various sized posts, it being understood that the screw 33 may enter through any of the openings 31 so as to cause rigid engagement of the arms with the post.

From the foregoing, it will be seen that a plurality of parallel disposed lines may be extended from a window to a post so that clothes may be hung therein without conflicting, one line with another, and that a double use of the pole may be made permitting oplpositely disposed lines to be extended.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is

In a wash line support, the combination of a supporting pole with a transverse rail, a pair of bands secured upon said rail in spaced relation near the center thereof, an integral arm on each band diverging outwardly from said pole, each of said arms provided with a plurality of perforations for the passage of means securing said arms to said pole, and hooks on said rail adapted for the attachment of rope ends.
