Description

F. H. cmws. HOSE SU PPORTER.
APPLICATION FILED DEC-14.1918

FRANK H. CHILDS; 0F STROUD, OKLAHOMA.
HOSE-SUPPORTEB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 1?, 1919..
Application filed December 14, 1918. Serial No. 266,794.
, To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK H. OHILDS, a citizen of the United States, residing at St-roud, in the county of Lincoln and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements .in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain improvements in hose supporters, and has relation more particularly to a device of this general character of a limb encircling tab, and it is an object to provide a deviceof this general character with a novel and improved means whereby the same may be applied with convenience and facility and which, after being fitted to the limb, is self adjustin ft is also an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved device'of this general character which will snugly engage the limb and which will not slip, so that the device may be worn with comfort by the person.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved hose supporter, whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simple, inexpensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will'be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of the invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation illustrating a hose supporter'constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention and in applied position;
Fig. 2 is a view in side elevation, opposite to that shown in Fig. 1, of my improved device in applied position;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary view, partly in section and partly in elevation, illustrating a detail of the invention as disclosed in Figs. 1 and 2.
In the embodiment of my invention herein disclosed, 1 denotes a pad of suitable material and of any desired configuration, and which is provided with a clasp C of any desired type for engagement with the hose.
Suitably secured to the outer face of the pad 1, is a plate, to which are anchored, as at- 2, the ear portions 3 of the loop members 4.
Adjustably engaged with the loops 4 are the end portions of the Webbing 5, preferably elastic. The webbing 5 is also loosely disposed through'the clips 6 and in order to increase the freedom of relative movement between the webbing 5 and the clips 6, a bar of the clip (3 is provided with a roller or other anti-friction member 7. The clip 6 is also provided with a second bar 6 beneath which is threaded thewebbing 5 so that the clip 6 is effectually held in its adjusted position upon the webbing, and
particularly when the supporter has been removed from the limb. The clips 6 are provided with the loop portions I) which are adapted to'engage the headed shanks 8 carried by the opposite end portions of a nonelastic strip or member 9.
When applying the hose supporter, as hereinbefore described, the member or strip 9 is positioned at the side of the limb opposite to the engagement of the clasp C with a hose and preferably at a point above the calf of.
the limb, and the clips 6 are engaged with the headed shanks 8 carried by the member or strip 9, with the portion of the webbing -5 intermediate the clips 6 extending inwardly around the limb. This intermediate portion of the webbing 5 and the strip or member 9 constitutes a limb encircling mem her. When it is desired to remove the supporter, one of the clips 6 is disengaged from its coacting shank 8.
From the foregoing descrip'tior. it is thought to be obvious that a hose supporter constructed in accordance with my invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature. It is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be em ployed, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without material departure from the principles and spirit thereof, and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice, 'except as hereinafter claimed. a
I claim:
A hose supporter comprising an elongated and with which the clips are engaged; said pad and the connections of the clips therewith being arranged at the side of a limb opposite to the side at which the hose engaging means is secured to the hose, the 10 connections of the clips with the pad being in close proximity to each other so that the ,central portion of the webbing substantially entirely encircles the limb with the end portions of the webblng diverging around the limb when the supporter is in applied posi- 15 tion.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my s1gnature.
FRANK H. OHILDS.
