Description

' as os ees,
HENRY n. on a, or noursvrnnnxnnrnc i sass cnea.
specification of Letters Eatent. Patented June 3, 1919.
Application filed April a. 1919. Eerie-1H0. seesaw.
is invention relates to devices for an-' choring silos to prevent the same from shiftmg on the foundation, and the invention a has for its object to provide a very simple,
efiicient and easily applied device of this kind. v
The object stated is attained by means of a novel combination and arran ment of parts to be hereinafter describe and claimed, and in order that the same may be better understood, reference is had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
In the drawing, a perspective view of the device is shown.
Referring specifically to the drawing 5 ,denotes one of the wooden staves of. a silo structure, it beingunderstoodthat the latter is made of upright staves which are placed in a circle and are maintained in this .position by encircling inside and outside hoopsfi and 7, respectively. As this structure is well known, a further description thereof is not deemed necessary. The usual concrete foundation of the silo is shown at 8.
an aperture in vthe stave 5 and has at its inner end a hook 11 which seats over the In the foundation 8, on the outsideof the silo, is set an anchor st 9 carrying an anchor rod or bolt 10 w ch passes through inside hoop 6. On the outside of the silo, the bolt or rod lO carries an abutment 12 engageable withthe outside hoo 7. This abutment is in the form of a was er seating on one sideagainst the outer face of the stave and having here a to recess 13 providing a seat for the hoop Back of the Washer 12, a nut 14-. is screwed on the bolt for locking the washer in holding position;
fore kept from shifting hoops'of the silo, the hol same; of a post anchors The bolt or rod is secured to the anchor post 9 by being passed through a vertical slot 15 therein, and it is locked in the slot, and also looked against longitudinal movement, by nuts 16 and 17 screwed on the bolt to seat against opposite sides of the anchor post. The slot 15 permits vertical adjustment of the bolt so that it may be properly positioned with respect to the hoops 6 and 7 The base or that portion of the anchor post 9 which is, embedded in the foundation 8 has laterally extending branches 18 to assist in holding the post in place, said branches effectually preventing the post from pulling up out of the foundation.
The device provides a very sim le and effective means 'for securely anc oring the silo-to its foundation, and the siloQis thereafter it has been erected, It'will be un erstood, of course, that any suitable number of anchoring devices will be provided, this depending on the dimensions of the S110. 4 p
I claim:
1. The combination with a silo wall and inside and outside hoops encircling the same; of a post anchored in the silo foundation, and an anchor rod carried by the post and passing through the silo wall, said rod having holding means engageable with the engages the outside hoop being adjustable on the rod.
2. The combination with a silo wall and inside and. outside hoo s encircling the same; of a post anchored in the silo foundation, an anchor rod carried by the post and passing through the silo wall, said rod havmg a 00k w and an abutment on the rod ad]ustable thereon to en age the outside hoop. 3. The comiination with a silo wall and inside and outside hoops dation, and a vertically adjustable anchor rod carried by the post and passing through the silo wall,-said rod having holding means engageable with the hoops of the silo.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
' B. CURRY.
