Application filed March 30, 1918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK HALENAR, a subject of the Emperor of Hungary, residing at Clayville, county of Oneida, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Printing- Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements 1n printing machines and particularly to types adapted to form impressions upon strip tickets or tapes in a coiled form.
The principal object of the invention is to provide an extremely simple, cheap and efficient device whereby a coil or roll of the material to be printed is placed in one side of the machine and by operating a crank is caused to pass through rollers, one of which is provided with the printing characters, and then wound upon another roller at the opposite side of the machine.
A still further object is to provide means whereby the completed roll may be removedfrom the machine without unrolling or unwinding the same.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is an end elevational view of a printing machine made in accordance with the invention.

The machine comprises a fixed stand or base 10, from which rise a pair of oppositely disposed standards 11, having laterally extended arms 12, at one side, the same being arranged in pairs while upon the opposite sides of the standards 11 extends a single arm 14, and a stub arm 15 with which is engaged, by means of the bolts 16, a removable plate arm 17.
A roll or coil of paper, indicated by the numeral 20, is mounted on a spindle 21, journaled in the side arms 12, the paper passing over a cylinder 23, mounted upon a shaft 25 housed transversely in the machine and having one end 26 squared, receptive of a crank handle 24, by means of Specification of Letters Patent.

The continuing part 28 of the column standards 11, also contain another shaft 29, upon which is mounted the type carrying roller 30, and engaged interiorly of the standard 28 upon the extending end of the shaft 29 is a pulley 31, conveying power by the crossed belt 32, to another pulley 33, mounted on a shaft 34, resting in open slots 35, formed at the top of the standards and carrying an ink conveying roller 36, so that a supply may be obtained by the type upon the roller 30.
The oppositely extending end of the shaft 29, has secured upon it a spur gear 38, meshing with a pinion 39, fixed upon the opposite end of the crank shaft, which extends through at both sides and has mounted on its opposite end a belt carrying pulley 40, conveying power through the belt 41, to a similar pulley 42, fixed upon the section 44 of a shaft transversely mounted in the arm 14 the other section 45, having a head 46 which extends through the removable arm 17.
Thus as the crank 24 is rotated, rotary motion is conveyed through the gears to the roller 30, while the shaft 45 actuated by the belt, rolls, the tape or strip thereupon.
If it be desired to remove the coiled strip it can be easily accomplished by releasing the bolts 16, withdrawing the arm 17 together with the sectional shaft 45 so that the roller can be removed as a unit avoiding the necessity of unrolling or unwinding the same.
Having thus described my invention what.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In a printing machine, the combination with a pair of vertical standards, and a base on which they are engaged, of a pair of lateral arms extending outwardly from said standards upon one side thereof, a single arm rigidly extending oppositely from the other side of said standard, a single arm bolted to said standard so as to be removed therefrom, opposite to said rigid arm, spindles carried in said pairs of arms, one of said spindles being made in sections, a head 011 said latter spindle extending through the arm bolted to the standard, rollers mounted on said spindles adapted to carry the readil removable and exchangeable roll of material to be printed, an impression roller revolubly mounted in said standard,
