TUBE HOLDER AND EJ'ECTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented cc. 6, i921.
Application filed March 28, 1920. Serial 1170.368337.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, 'WILLIAM" J. Bornnoou, a citizen of the United Eltates, and a resident of l Vilmington, in the county oi: Newcastle and the State of Delaware, have invented certain new and useful improvements in a Tube Holder and Ejector, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates primarily to a hold ing device for tubes containing a paste or cream, such as dental cream, shaving cream,
etc. Associated with the holder is a key for winding or compressing the tube an d there-- by forcing the cream or paste from it. lllule such key or ejector is very desirable itrom the standpoint of economy, avoiding waste of contents of the tube, the material might be forced from the tube by pressure of the fingers. i
The invention therefore consists especially of the novel features of construction associated with the tube holder.
.lin the accompanying drawings:
Figure l is a front elevation, the tube zap being removed.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view, the cap being; in position.
Fig. 8 is a section on the line il-l of Fig. 1, the tube being broken away. 7
in the drawings 1 designates a tube of the usual type having a cap 2.
My holder comprises an angled wall plate 3. This is secured in place on the wall, or
window casing, by a screw or nail. its outwardly extending arm has an upwardly ope recess forming; a fixed jaw l. At the forward end, and adjacent the jaw the arm of the plate is bent over as at 5 to form one of a pair of finger grips.
The movable member of the holder consists of a flat plate 6 which is pivoted to the arm of the bracket holder or plate 3. The
. upper edge of the plate 6 has an overhanginp; flange 7 which extends above the upper edge of the arm of the bracket 3. A. slightly bowed spring 8 is secured to the underside of this flange and at its rear end bears on the upper edge of the arm of the bracket El. The movable member 6 has a recessed dow11- wardly open j aw 9 co-inciding with the jaw 41: of the arm, and it will be noted that these jaws are oppositely beveled to afford a firmer grip on the neck of the tube. At the lower forward corner of the movable memher is a hand grip, or thumb piece 10, and it will be noted that the grips 5 and 10 ex tend laterally in opposite directions.
To insert, the cap is removed from the tube,v the finger grips pressed together by the thumb and index finger and the neck pushed into the jaws to the shoulder of the tube, and the grips then released. The cap may then be replaced.
To force the contents of the tube out I employ a key 11 formed by bending a wire on itself to engage the tube the free end of the wire having an eye 12 to form a handle.
The holder device is very simple comprising only three parts, the bracket member 3, the movable plate 6 and the spring 8, all of which parts can be easily stamped out of metal.
The device can be manufactured at a low cost, is neat in appearance and at the same time holds the tube in position for use with a firm grip. its advantages will be obvious to those using a tube of this character for holding creams or pastes. The device is adapted to hold tubes of various sizes.
What I claim is l. A. device of the kind described comprisng a bracket arm having a semi-circular aw portion lying in a vertical plane, a movable plate member mounted vertically on a side of the bracket arm and having a cooperating j aw, a flange carried by the plate member overhanging; the arm of the bracket. and a leaf spring secured to the bracket arm and bearing on the upper face of the flange.
2. ln a tube holder, an angled bracket one member of which is recessed to form a tubeneck receiving jaw, a flat plate member hav' ing a cooperating jaw formed therein, the said jaws being oppositely beveled, the plate members being pivotally mounted on the bracket member, and having a flange overhangh'in said member, and a bow spring; secured to said flange and bearing on said bracket member, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I aflii: my signature.
TVILLTA'M J. ROTHROCK.
