To ail whom may concern Be it known that I. GUY E. Soorr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Delhi, in "the county of Redwood and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shovel-Scrapers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to scrapers and more particularly to that class of scrapers adapted to clean the surfaces of a gang of shovel cultivators.
One of the objects of my invention resides in the construction or a gang scraper for shovel cultivators including means to simultaneously operate the scrapers over the r'ace oi the shovels and resilient means to keep the scrapers in their inoperative position.
Another object of the invention relates to a scraper for a gang of shovel plows and resilient means for retaining the said scrapers in constant contact with the surface of the blades.
With these objects in view and others which will be manifest and suggested as the nature and purpose of my invention are revealed in the following specification and drawing wherein I have shown a practical, yet preferred embodiment thereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the gang scraper.

Similar numerals on the drawing referring to like and corresponding parts in the specification, numeral 1 designates the usual beam supporting a plurality of standards 2', the lower ends of which are provided with earth working elements in the form of shovel blades 3. Collars 4i secured to the standards are provided with lateral apertured extensions 5 which constitute guides for vertical, scraper carrying, resilient rods 6, suitable stops or abutments 7 having set screws '7 being adjustably mounted on the said rods to limit the upward movement thereof. T-connections 8 on the front and rear carrying rods 6 and a double T-connection 9 on the intermediate carrying rod are also provided with set screws 8 permitting difierent size cultivators to be adjustably mounted said connections receiving the longitudinally extending connecting rod 10 which is resiliently suspended by coiled springs 11, 12 from the supporting beam 1.
In the form shown in Fig. 1, the resilient carrying rods 6 are preferably curved at their lower extremities 13 and are pivotally connected to a metallic strap 14., the said strap being also pivotally or swivelly connected to the lugs 15 of the transverse scraper elements 16 which extend across the faces of the shovel blades, thus permitting the scraper elements to readily follow and turn with the said blades during their angular adjustment. Each scraper is also formed with side flanges 17 which securely hold the same to shovel as clearly shown in the draw ings. A tension spring 18 interposed between the metallic strap 14 and the curved extremity 13 normally keeps the scraper element in contact with the blade. A foot lever 19 or other actuating device attached to the connecting rod 10 is adapted to simultaneously actuate the carrying rods 6 and the scrapers, the springs 11, 12 retaining the said rods in their elevated and normal inoperative postion.
In the form shown in Fig. 2, the resilient carrying rods 6 are directly connected with the scraper elements 16 by a pivotal or swivel connection 15 intermediate the flanged sides 17* of the scraper. In this form of the invention the metallic strap and spring 18 may be dispensed with and as above pointed out the pivotal or swivel connection permits the scraper to follow the blade for the obvious purpose.
It will now be seen from the above description that I have devised a very simple and eflicient gang scraper for cultivator shovels wherein all of the shovels may be cleaned simultaneously.
In the accompanying drawings, I have illustrated my invention embodied in one form by way of example, and which in practice has been found to be highly satisfactory in obtaining the desired results. It will be obvious however that other embodiments may be adopted, and that various changes in the details of construction may be resorted to by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is furthermore understood that the invention is not necessarily limited or restricted to the precise elements shown except in so far as such limitations are specified in the subject matter being claimed.
What I claim is:

tical carrying rods, a resilienty supported, longitudinal rod connecting said carrying rods metallic straps pivotally connected to the curved lower exteremities of said carrying rods and angularly disposed toward the same, transverse substantially narrow, fiat scraping elements pivotally connected to said metallic straps and embracing the face and sides of the shovels. resilient springs normally retaining said scraping elements in contact with the said shovels, and foot oper ated means for simultaneously actuating said scrapers.
