BUCKLE.
Application filed May 16, 1921.
T0 aZZ wwm i may concern Be it known that I, THEODE GARCEAU, a British subject, residin'g at #66 St. Thomas street, in the city of Three Rivers, in the Province of Quebec, in the Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and use- :Eul Improvements in Buekles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
The present invention relates to improvements relating to buckles and the main object of this invention is to provide a device of this character that will be et simple construction and particularly eheap to manufacture.
The invention Wlll be better understood with the aid of the accompanying drawings forming part of this application, in WhiCh;-
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an arm band to which is adapted the invention.
Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan elevation of the bnckle.
Like numerals of referenee indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
Referrin to the drawings, 1 indicates an arm band provided at one end thereof, with a folded fastening portion 2, and at its other end with the ouokle 3; the buckle consiste oi' a plate having a strap or band receiving slot4, said slot 4 being divided intermediate thereof by two inwardly projecting lugzs 5 f0rming on one side of said slot 4 a straprecess 6, within whioh is permanently secured one end of the arm band 1. The said plate is also cut to form a passage 9 said passage communicating with a slotted portion 1.
In order to look said arm band or strap in said slot 6, the lugs 5 are crushed against said strap or band, thereby preventing the displacement of the same. Opposite said reress 6 and collateral thereto, is provided slots 7. having at its lower end an inwardly projecting lug 8, said lug 8 being preferably distanced from the lower lug 5 in order to pr vide a central passage 9 of the arm band.
It Will readily be seen that the looped end of the arm band when inserted through the opening 9 Will enter the recess 7 and project Specificaon of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 469,952.
in between the lug 8 and the edge or said recess, thereby looking therein to prevent d1splacement. The motion of the arme will not unhook the said 100p 2 from the bnckle. as to unfasten the 100p 2 from the buckle, the buckle must be lowered in order that the lower edge of the 100p 2 Will clear the lug 8.
The form herewith disclosed could be slightl3 modified without departing rom the spirit or scope of the invention.
lVhat I claim as my invention is l. A buckle comprising a plate provided with an inner recess; inwardly projecting luge provided intermediate of said recess, said lugs being adapted to form a strap rece1ving slot; a 111;; inwardly projecting from the lower edge of af0resaid recess, and suitably distaneed from said other lugs, a part of said plate between said last nameddug and said other lugs being ont ont, whereby a passage is formed intermediate of the lower edge of said plate, said inwardly projeeting lngr forming a locking element for the 100p provided on the other end of the strap, substantialh as described.
2. A bnckle comprising a plate provided with an inner recess; inwardly projecting ln5zs provided intermediate 01 said recess, said lugs being adapted to form a strap receivingr slot. and bent over the end of the strap in order to permanently look same thereto; a lug inwardly projecting from the lower edge of the aforesaid reeess, snitably distanred from said other lngs, a part of said plate-between said last named lug and said other luge being ont ont, whereby a passage is formed intermediate of the loWer edge of said plate; said inwardly projeotinq lug forming a lorking element at the bottofn or lower edge of the aforesaid recess, so as to retain the looped end of said strap and prevent the displacement of the same, substantially as described.
Signed at Quebec, Quebec, Canada, this 28rd day of February, 1921.
