EDSON H. TUTTLE, JOHN C. MILLER, AND TRACY C. BALDW'IN, OIE GONNEAUT, OHIO.
STEAM-BOILER-COMPOUND FEEDER.
Application filed April 12,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EDsoN H. TUTTLE, JOHN C. MILLER, and TRACY C. BALDWIN, citizens of the United States, residing at Conneaut, in the county of Ashtabula and State of Ohio, respectively, have invented new and useful Improvements in Steam- Boiler-Compound Feeders, of which the following is a specification.
The object of our present invention is the provision of improved means for feeding to boilers a compound or other liquid agent calculated to remove and prevent the formation of scale in boilers.
To the attainment of the foregoing, the invention consists in the improvement as hereinafter described and definitely claimed.
In the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification The figure is a diagrammatic view illustrative of our improvement.
Among other elements our novel means comprises a pressure regulating valve 1. This valve per 86 is not of our invention, and hence it follows that a pressure regulating valve of any appropriate type may be employed without involving departure from the scope of our invention as claimed. Vhen pressure is employed to feed the compound or agent to the steam boiler, the said regulating valve 1 is connected through a pipe 2 with the boiler.
In addition to the regulating valve 1 our novel means includes a supply tank 3 on which is a sight gage 4, and a charging funnel 5; the said funnel 5 being connected by a pipe 6 with the tank 3, and the said pipe 6 being connected at 7 wit-h the regulating valve 1 and being equipped with a pressure gage 8 and a cut out valve 9.
The tank 3 is provided with a bleed line 10, and is connected through the medium of a pipe 11, preferably of copper with a sight feed regulator 12. The said sight feed regulator 12 is connected, in turn, and through Specification of Letters Patent.

the medium of a valved pipe 13, also preferably of copper with a conduit 14 from the feed water heater to the boiler. By preference the said conduit 14 is equipped with a thermometer 15.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that through the medium of our novel apparatus a steam boiler may be expeditiously and easily supplied wit-h a liquid compound or any other liquid agent for removing scale and for preventing the collection of new scale.
lVe have entered into a detailed description of the construction and relative arrangement of parts embraced in the present and preferred embodiment of our invention in order to impart a full, clear and eiiactunderstanding of the said embodiment. We do not desire, however, to be understood as confining ourselves to the said specific construction and relative arrangement of parts inasmuch as in the future practice of the invention various changes and modifications may be made such as fall within the scope of our invention as defined in our appended claim.
Having described our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, 1s
Means for feeding a liquid agent to the feed water line of a steam boiler, comprising a supply tank, means for charging said tank, a sight feed regulator, a pipe intermediate of the supply tank and said regulator, and a pipe leading from the sight feed regulator and adapted to be connected with a conduit in the feed water line; the said charging means and the supply tank being also connected with a pressure regulating valve, and said valve being adapted, in turn, to be connected with a pressure line.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures.
EDSON H. TUTTLE. JOHN C. MILLER. TRACY C. BALDWVIN.
