The automatic operation of the switch is as follows: I I

set as shown in Fig. 1, and a train approaches slowly-from the direction indicated byflthe arrow along the portion of the track 50, the wheel flanges will engage at the' point 51 between the switch-point2 and the fixed rail 1, to throwthe points 2 in the direction of the arrow.
