Description

S. J. WITKOWSKI.
LOCK.
APPLICATION FILED OCT. 15. 1919.
v Patented Aug. 30, 1921.
INVENTOR I 5 $221726) =1? mammal.
BY (29 d?! $1M ATTORNEY STANLEY J. WITKOWSKI, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
LOCK.
Application filed October 15, 1919.
T all whom it may concern Be it known that I, STANLEY J. VVIrKow- SKI, a citizen of Poland, residing-at Detroit, county of lVayne, and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Locks, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relatesto new and I useful improvements in looks.
, formin a The primary object of the invention is the provision of a lock including a hasp and means carried thereby for engaging a latch plate and retaining said hasp against displacement.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a hasp lock including apair of oppositely movable angularly arranged bolts designed to engage a keeper for the purpose ofretaining the hasp in looking position.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a lock of the above specified type which will .be comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and efficient in use, and readily operated.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the present invention resides in the novel featuresof construction, formations, combinations and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawin part of the present invention and in which Figure 1 is a perspective View of the invention showing the lock opened.
Fig. 2 is a plan view lookin at the inner side of the hasp.
Fig. dis a detail perspective view of the ke big. 4 is an edge view of the part shown in Fig. 2. a
Fig. 5 is a plan view of the lock removed from the hasp.
Referring now to the accompanying drawings by corresponding characters of reference throughout the several views, the letter A represents a portion of a housing and B the closure thereof.
A plate 1 is secured to said housing and has a hasp 2 hinged thereon at 3. A suitable fastening device 4 passes through an opening 4 provided in the plate 1 and se cures the latter against displacement.
A suitable keeper in the form of a rectang lar plate having a central opening Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 30, 1921. Serial No. 330,843.
therein is indicated at 5. This keeper 5 is secured to the before mentioned closure B.
A hasp 2 is provided at its free end with an enlarged circular head 6, while lugs 7 extend from the inner side of the plate 1 holdmg the latter against rotation so that the head 6 will at all times be in alinement with the keeper 5 and so that'the casing 8 carried by the head of the hasp will pass through the central opening provided in the keeper.
A flange 10 is formed at the outer end of the casing 8 and is secured to the head 6 by suitable fastening devices such as the screws 11. r
Angularly disposedchannels 12 and 12 are provided in the casing 8 while slidably disposed therein are looking bolts 13 and 13, which pass through the sides of the casing through the openings 14 and 1 1.
The inner sides of the bolts 13 and 13 are provided with notches 15 designed to engage the opposite edges of the key 16 so that upon rotation of the key in opposite direction the bolts will be projected through the walls of the casing 8 and into engagement with the held firmly in engagement with the bolts by virtue of the engagement of the pin 17 in the opening 17 formed in the casing 8.
A suitable key opening 18 is provided in the hasp 2 in order that access may be had to the grooves 16 in the locking bolts, while in order to facilitate the operation of the key 16 a suitable headl9is provided thereon.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it will be manifest that a lock is provided. which will fulfil all of the necessary requirements of such a device, and it should be understood in this connection, that various minor changes in the specific details of Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is In a hasp lock'of the character described, the combination with a plate adapted to be secured to a housing and having a central opening for the passage of a fastening means, of a hasp hingedly connected'to said plate, having an enlarged substantially circularb d a d a ke pe with a flanged msing carried by said head and provided with angularly disposed channels and having a central opening adapted to be engaged by the end pin of a key, notched locking bolts siidably disposed in said channels and passing through the sides of said casing, the
notches of said locking bolts adapted to be engaged by the opposite edges of a key upon the rotation thereof for projeetingsaid bolts in opposite directions through the Walls of 10 said easing into engagement with the keeper.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature.
STANLEY J. WITKOWSKI.
