REVERSIBLE PLOW.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 2, 1921.
Application filed August 14, 1919. Serial No. 317,568.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SrJnrAN PosAvAc, a citizen of Jugo-Slavia, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Reversible Plows, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in reversible plows and provides a practical construction whereby the plow share and mold-board may be operatively disposed at either side of the beam and landside as desired.
With the above general object in View and others that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consist in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.
In the drawings,
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a plow constructed in accordance with the present invention,
Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof,
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view, partly broken away, and taken ubstantially upon line III-III of Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken upon line IV-IV of Fig. 1,
Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional view taken substantially upon line VV of Fig. 1,
Fig. 6 is a fragmentary elevational view illustrating the point provided on the forward end of the landside, and
Fig. 7 is a sectional view taken substantially upon line VIL-VII of Fig. 6.
Referring more in detail to the several views, the present plow may include a beam 5 having a clevis 6 at the forward end thereof and provided with the usual handles 7 as well as a rectangular landside 8. The landside 8 is reduced as at 9 at opposite sides of the upright central post 10 which connects the landside with the beam 5, the reduced portions of said landside being rounded as shown at 11 in Fig. 4 and having the adjacent ends of links 12 bent therearound so as to pivotally connect said links to the landside. The opposite ends of the links 12 are pivotally connected as at 13 to the forward and rear portions of the double mold-board 14 substantially at the longitudinal center of the latter, and the mold-board 14 has a pair of reversely positioned shares 15 rigidly secured thereto. The shares 15 are located at the longitudinal edges of the mold-board 14 as well as at the forward end of the latter as is usual in this class of devices. In order to hold the rear end of the moldboard 14 at an outward angle in spaced relation to the rear upright post 16, I provide a pin 17 on the post 16 for reception within any one of the apertures 18 provided in the link 19 which is pivoted to the mold-board 14 as shown in Fig. 3. It is obvious that the mold-board 14 may be disposed at the desired angle to the longitudinal axis of the plow as desired and as determined by which one 07f the apertures are engaged by the pm 1 By disconnecting the link 19 from the pin 17, the mold-board 14 and shares 15 may be swung outwardly and downwardly under the landside 8 to the opposite side of the landside, and there retained in any suitable manner. As shown herein, the forward up right post 20 has turn buttons 21 pivoted thereon for engagement with the moldboard 14 to hold the latter in either of its positions at opposite sides of the landside.
A point 22 is rigidly fastened as at 23 upon the forward end of the landside 8 at the juncture of the post 20 therewith, and this point is adapted to form a furrow opener in the usual manner. The present plow also be provided with the usual colter 24 and any other usual accessory.
It is believed that the construction and operation of the present invention will be readily understood by those skilled in the art, from the foregoing description.
While the form of the invention herein shown and described is what is believed to be the preferable embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor; changes may be made in the form, combination and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit and scope of the in vention as claimed.
What I claim as new is In a reversible plow, a land side, a double mold board having its forward portion disposed contiguous to the land side and extending rearwardly in divergcnet relation thereto, spaced supporting links having horizontally alined pivotal connections at one end with the land side, the opposite ends of the links being pivotally connected with board is operatively positioned, and means the mold board permitting the latter to detachably engaged With the opposite exswing with the links from one side of the tremities of the mold board to maintain the 10 land side to the other or independently of latter in operative association With the land said links, said links being disposed in upside. Wardly and outwardly inclined positions In testimony whereof I afiix my signature. with respect to the land side When the mold 1 STJEPAN POSAVAC.
