Description

UNITED STATES CHRISTIAN ROSENTHAL OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
POLISH FOR VAIRNISHED SURFACES.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHRISTIAN RosEN- THAL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Polish for Varnished Surfaces, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to polish for varnished surfaces and consists in the novel composition as hereinafter set forth. My improved composition consists essentially of a wax, a solvent therefor, and amyl acetate commercially known and referred to hereafter as banana oil. For the solvent I preferably employ gasolene, or an equivalent hydrocarbon oil, and I also add to the banana oil an ingredient which will render the same miscible with this solvent, preferably a small quantity of oil of mirbane and alcohol. I also preferably mix with the solvent a quantity of turpentine, as this increases the luster of the polish.
The specific formula which I preferably use is as follows:
Wax 51b. Turpentine 101b. Gasolene 10 lb. Banana oil 41b. Oil of mirbane 12 oz. Alcohol 4oz.
The method of compounding is; first, melt the wax and add the turpentine thereto. In a separate vessel mix together the oil of I Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 5, 1921.
Application filed February 5, 1921. Serial No. 442,814.
mirbane, alcohol and banana oil and then add to this mixture the gasolene. The two mixtures are then placed together and thoroughly commingled, with the result of form ing a composition which is fluid at ordinary temperatures. 4
In use, the mixture is spread over the surface, which is then polished by rubbing in the usual way.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A polish comprising a wax, a solvent therefor, banana oil, and an ingredient for rendering said banana oil miscible with the solvent.
2. A polish comprising a wax, turpentine, a mineral oil, banana oil, and an ingredient for rendering the banana oil miscible with the mineral oil.
3. A polish comprising a wax, turpentine, gasolene, banana oil, and oil of mirbane.
4. A polish comprising a wax, turpentine, gasolene, banana oil, oil of mirbane and alcohol.
5. A polish comprising the following ingredients in substantially the proportions specified:
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
CHRISTIAN ROSENTHAL.
