Description
UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEFiCE.
Lno PLATT, or NEW YORK, N. Y".
` CAMISLE .AND METHOD 0F MAKING SAIMIE.v
speciiicationof Letters Patent. Patented June 28, 1921.
Original application filed December 28, 1918, Serial No.7268,587. Divided and this application led May 22, 1920. Serial No. 383,432.
To all whom t may concer/n.:
Be it known that I, LEO PLATT, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York, in the county of NewYork and v vState of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Camisoles and Methods of Making Same, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to Camisoles and particularly to a method of making camisoles. An object of this invention is to provide a method of manufacture of camisoles whereby the, same may be 'quickly andv easily manufactured and sold over the counter bythe mere cutting of a strip of suitablelength from an already manufactured strip, and the same can be converted into a camisole without substantially any additional 'workon the part of the purchaser.
This is a divisional application of `my co-V Y pending application, Serial No. .268587,in which the same subject matter as .of the application herein is disclosed but notl fullyY claimed'. f n f With these and other objects inview, the. invention consists in the method'hereinafter more fully described and claimed. My method of making Camisoles is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in'which:
Figure l is a completely made camisole ;l Fig. 2 is a bolt of cloth or a ribbonshoivn in perspective as itis being severed from the bolt;
- Fig. 3 is a fragmentary'perspective of one of the tubular edges of my ribbon.
`In my method of making a camisole I weave a cloth having a width substantially thatof the height-of the camisole and whiie weaving this cloth weave also its tubular` edges and at the same time and in a single operation completely form. the main and body part ofthe camisole, which cloth yor ribbon is woven into a bolt and may be severed in lengths suitable for encircling the body of a person.
The numeral 2 designates the ribbon provided With tubular edges 3 and 3, which tubular edges are woven in by the weft threads, skipping certain of the Warp threads on one side near the edgeand skipping others of the warp threads on the other side onlthe return of the weft threads. As shown in Fig. 2 they said ribbon `2 is being severed-'at 4L by a pair ofshears, 5, it be- -ing obvious that any approved desired form of severing may be applied and the severed portion, 6, being oi. suiiicient length to vencircle y,the body of ay person. `Gathering strings, 8, are inserted inthe tubular portions, 3, orV 3.', or both,1f desired, `or clasps V9- may be provided, or both gathering strings and clasps may be provided as desired, orA
any other desired or suitable form of connecting the edges of thecamisole may be.
provided. lIt will be understood that shouldergstraps l0 may beattached to the severed portions 6, if desired.
What claimis: Al. A methodV of making Camisoles com'- 'prising weaving a strip with tubular edges and cutting saidv strip into lengths suitablev for Camisoles;v
V2. VA method ofmakingY camisoles com-'lv vpri'sing weaving a strip Vwith tubularedges fof suitable length forcainisoles and ,mountlng shoulder straps thereon.
3. .A step' in the method f making camisoles comprising weaving a strip with tubularl edges of a width and length for cutting into lengths suitable for camisoles.
Inn-testimony whereof v.I affix ymy signature. s
LEO PLATT. f.
