By the construction described it will be seen that the spx-in 21 is concealedand housed and protecte 4from the access of dust and dirt and from liability of injury; and is also dis- 'posed at a point where itdoes not interfere with the full and free-admission of the object to be lgripped between the stationary 4 and movable jaws.

These grippers 25 and 26, are adapted for engagement withthe interior of a ipe -or other tubular object, andzeach of said grippersis provided upon opposite sides ofthe center l of its curved face with sets of teeth 28 and 29 projecting in opposite directions, so as .to adapt the grippers for a ripping action in either direction of pivote? movement of the wrench. The gripper 25 may be fixed in any suitable manner to the sleeve 2, but the gripperA 26 is ivotallymounted `upon the pinor stud 2 so as to have-lan eccentric gripping action when the wrench is ivotvally adjusted or revolved in one direction or the other, whereby the'pipe, tube or similar'l objectmay be rmly' gri ped and revolved ermit it to be screwe or unscrewed, as wil be readily understood. .The construction described enables' a wrench of thewtype disclosed to be manufactured in Aa simple manner and provided with :jaws or grippers to engage either the exterior or interior of a pipe or other object a) be' held 'or rotated.
