To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE W. N. YsT, of Corry, Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Bush-Holder for Mowing and Reaping Machines, of which the following is a specifioation:

The nature of the invention is in the arrangement of a detachable bush holding sleeve within the main frame of a mowing and reaping machine so as to hold it therein by the gearwheels and hold it from revolving by a spur.

The accompanying drawing, with the following description thereof, fully illustrates the invention.

Figure l represents a view of the parts combined. Fig. 2 represents a view of the inner sides of the casing-plates ofthe inclosing-box main frame. Fig. 3 represents a lengthwise view of the bush-holder with the journal-bearing bushes therein. Fig. 4 represents an end view ofthe bush-holder with the journal-bearing bushes therein. Fig. 5 represents a plan view of the bush-holder.

' The following is the description: A represents a main axle, or two main axles combined, of a mowing or reaping machine. B represents a left-side driving-wheel on the main axle A. B represents a right-side driving-wheel on the main axle A. C represents a left-side metal casing-plate on the main axle A, between the driving-wheels B B. C represents a ri ght-sidemetal casing-plate on the main axle A, between the driving-wheels B B. a represents alug or ear,half cylindrical, a part of, and projecting out from, each end of the left-side casing-plate C. a represents a like lug or ear at each end of the right-side casing-plate C. The combination of the projections a a of the casing-plates C C', when the casing-plates are combined into an inclosing-box or main frame, makes lugs, whereby the plates are fastened firmly together by bands around the hubs, and whereby the connecting-frame may be attached to the main frame. b represents a rib, a part of, and projecting up from, the bottom and in from the side of the fore part of the'left oasin g-plate C. L represents a like rib of the right casingplate C. c represents a circular groove in the ear a and rest b of the left casing-plate C, in the plane of, and in line at a right angle to, the main axle A. c represents a like groove in the ear a and rest b of the right casing-plate (l. Uniting the circular grooves o c of the ears a o and rests b b of the casing-plates C C', when the casing-plates are combined into an inclosing-box or main frame, makes a hole for a journal-bearing bushholder. d represents a recess in the fore ear a of thevleft casing-plate C, projecting radially out from the groove c. d represents a like recess in the right casing-plate C. Uniting the recesses d d of the fore-ears a a' ofthe f casing-plates C C', when the casing-plates are combined into an inclosing-box or main-frame, makes a slot at a right angle to, and out from, the bush-holder hole c c. D represents a metal tube or sleeve or bush-holder lying within, and extended through, the hole c c of the inclosing-box or main frame O C. e represents a spur projecting radially out from the fore end of the bush-holder D, and adaptedto, and put within, the recess d d of the inclosing-box or main frame C C. E represents a metal bush for a journal-bearing within each end of the bush-holder D.

In this way I hold the journal-bearings of the crank-wheel axle, for which the invention is peculiarly well adapted, though it also is good for the journaLbearings.

The small bevel-pinion on the inner end, and the crank-wheel on the outer end, of the crank-wheel axle prevents the sleeve D, while in use, from moving endwise; and the spur e within the recess d d of the main frame G C prevents it from revolving. It is a fraction smaller than the hole o c of the main frame, so that it can be taken out and putin by the ingers.

Thus, when a bush, E, gets worn out the bush-holder D can be removed easily to replace or repair the bush, and can be held firmly and solidly when in place within the main frameC C.
