To all whom 'it may concern f Be it known that 1, GEORGE H. WiLsoN, a citizen of United States of America, residing at Augusta, in the county ot Richmond and State of Georgia, have invented new and useful mprovements in vWarp Stop Devices, of which the following is a speciication.
The object oiP the invention is to provide a warp stop device for use with looms to be operatedby specially prepared warp, Vsuch as that prepared on a slasher having the attachments shown in the lapplicants co-pending application tiled May 7, 1919 and bea-rv ing Serial No. 295,430. This specially prepared warp has gaps formed in its selvage edge at specified intervals and in the'device herein shown, an attachment traverses the selvage edge Vand `is operable upon its encountering a gap, the device being connected with means operating to throw a lever connected with the warpstop mechanism. It serves as a positive stop for the loom at specified intervals when the loom is running thespecially prepared warp and may be .employed without interference with the other automatic stops for the loom.
.i As herein shown and described, a specific embodiment of the invention is adhered to, but to such embodiment it is not to berestricted in so far as its limits may be prescribed by theappended claims.

The loom frame is provided witha transverse bar. (15); disposed just ahead 'of the beam (3) and ahead of this bar there is positioned what is commonly known as a drop wire boX (6), a lever (7) having its end entering this box for engagement b y the device constituting the present invention.
Specification of Letters Patent.
The lever connects with and operates the stopping device for the loom which obviously may be of any preferred form, which, not being essential to the understanding of the invention, is not illustrated or described herein.
l rllhe automatic stopping device constituting the present invention is mounted on the transversely disposed bar (5), the warp passing from the beam over this bar and those threads which constitute the warp being engaged by the stopping device. The latter comprises an appropriate support consisting of a plate (8) formed with a horizontal U-shaped member (9), the upper leg of which is made longer than the lower leg so as to underlie the warp threads where they pass the saine, as indicated at (10). This upper leg is formed with an opening (11) and with, oppositely` disposed up-tnrned ears (12) and (14), the latter being at the extremity of a lateral extension in which there is formed a slot 141EL communicatingwith the opening 11. An intermediate bearing support (15) is disposed between these ears. The plate (8) is secured on the bar (5) by means of a U-shaped clamp member (16) which embraces the bar and which is secured to the plate by means of appropriate bolts (17). The U-shaped member (8) is thus held in its proper position with respect to the passing warp. Obviously loosening thevbolts (17) with the consequent loosening of the U-shaped member (16) from the bar (5) will permit ad- Patented May 3, 1921.

Pivotally supported in the ears (12) and (111) and in the bearing support (15) there is a rod (18) which is 'formed with a U- shaped portion (20) so disposed that it projects laterally from the rod ymember (18) and lies on top oi' the edge of the selvage The U-shaped portion (20) traverses the warp threads, the latter keeping` it substantially horizontally disposed until a gap in the passing warp is encountered. The U-shaped portion will then drop by gravity and may pass in the slot Ma) upon the application of a force in the direction of the length of the rod member (18). Such a force is provided by the weight (24) and the rod lmember will therefore move longitudinally and the weight will be lowered, the latter dropping into the drop'wire box (6) where it impacts with the lever (7) thus causingthe latter to Aoperate the loom stopping member. Thus when the warp thread is being worked on the loom, the latter is automatically stopped each time a gap (2) in the warp reaches the stopping deviceV and the attendant knows that. a cut mark has been reached even thoughhe be not present to see the eut mark or gap. The invention having been described, what is claimed as new and useful is 1. T he combination with a loomcarrying a warp provided at predetermined points on the selvage edge with gaps, of a member movable through the gaps but playing upon and traversing those portions of the selvage'threads between the gaps, and a loom stopping device operatively connected with said `member and rendered operable upon movement yofY the latter through any one of theV gaps.
2. The combination with a loom equippedl with a warp stop operating device and carrying a warp prepared with gaps in its selvage edge, at predetermined points or a gravity actuated member traversing the said selvage edge and provided with means for operative engagement with the warp stop device, the said member being movable through any of the said gaps. j 3. The combination with a loom equipped with a warp stop operating device and carrying a warp prepared with gaps, at predetermined points, of a member traversing the warp and provided with means for operative engagement with said warp stop device, lthe said member being movable through the gaps and actuable upon encountering the same. 4;. The combination with a loom equipped with a warp stop operating device and carrying a warp prepared at predetermined points with gaps, of a gravity actuated member traversing the warp in the vpath ot the gaps and provided with means for operative engagement with the said warp stop operating device, the said member being movable through the gaps and actuable upon encountering any one of the same.
5. The combination with a loom equipped with a warp stop operating device and carrying a warp prepared with gaps in its selvage edge at predetermined points, of a pivotally mounted gravity actuated member' traversing the said selvage edge, the said member being movable through any of the said gaps and provided with means for op erative engagement with said warp stop device.
G. The combination with a loom for running a warp prepared with gaps lin its selvage edge and having a warp stop device, of a rod member formed with a U-shaped laterally projecting portion, means for pivotally mounting the said rod member so that j the said U-shaped portion may bear on and traverse the selvage edge oi the warp, and a gravity actuated member connected with the rod member for operative engagement with the warp stop device, the said U-shaped portion being operable through any of the selvage edge gaps to impart pivotal movement to the rod member.
7. The combination with a loom for running a warp prepared with gaps in its selvage edge and having a warp stop mechanism, of a rod member formed with a laterally projecting U-shaped portion for bearing engagement upon the selvage edge, means pivotally supporting the rod, means for adjusting the last said means laterally with reference to the direction of movement of the warp to properly position the U-shaped portion on the selvage edge, and a gravity actuated member engageable with the warp "stop mechanism, the U-shaped portion being operable through any oi' the gaps to impart pivotal movement to said rod. j
8. The combination with a loom for running a warp prepared with gaps in its 4selvage edge and having a warp stop mechanism, of a rod member formed with a laterally projecting portion, a horizontally dis posed U-shaped member having its upper leg formed with an opening and with ears pivotally supporting the rod member, the laterally projecting portion of the latter being dimensioned to pass through said opening and being designed to traverse the selvage warp threads which pass between the said laterally projecting portion and the said upper leg of the Ushaped member, and a gravity actuated device carried by the rod member for operative engagement with the warp stop mechanism, the laterally projecting portion being operable through said gaps to impart pivotal movement to the rod member.
