. No. 137,663, PatentedApri|s,1873` AM pHoro-LnunsnAPHlc ca Mx (assos/vs macias) UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES H. DUNBRACK, OF JACKSONVILLE, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BOILERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 137,663, dated April 8, 1873; application tiled March 7, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, CHARLES H. DUNBRAGK, of Jacksonville, in the county of Morgan and State of Illinois, have invented certain Improvements in Steam Clothes Washers, of which the following is a specilication:
This invention has relation to steam clotheswashers; and it consists in the provision of means whereby the -articles to be washed may be hung or suspended vertically during the operation, and in the construction and novel arrangement of other elements of a steam clothes -washer, substantially as hereinafter more fully described.
Referring to the drawing, Figure l is a top view of my invention, and Fig. 2 a vertical longitudinal section thereof.
A in the drawing represents an ordinary wash-boiler with an inner casing, B, separated therefrom at the sides, ends, and bottom, and supported by means of arms C. The casing B is internally flanged at the lower edges to hold the convex, perforated, and removable bottom D having the handle E. F designates a rectangular skeleton frame or rack adapted to t inside ythe casing B, and provided with ears, d, to rest on the top thereof, as shown. The clothes to be washed are hung or suspended on the transverse bars of said frame or rack, instead of being packed, as is now the custom. Through the perforations in the bottom D the steam passes upward to the suspended articles, while through the space between the boiler and inner casing the steam and hot-water circulate. Thus, by condensation and gravitation, a steady drain and circulation are kept up through the ber and the dirt and stains effectually removed. H is an escapepipe with a valve, h, for admitting the surplus steam at will into the pipe of the stove or range.
I claim-.-
The combination of the boiler A and (asing B with the rack F, arranged substantially as and for the purpose specified.
