A TTOR/VEY UNITED STATES WINGAS ANTANAVICZIUS, OF BROOKLYN NEW YORK.
TAPE-NEEDLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 12, 1921.
Application filed April 14, 1920. Serial No. 373,724.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, lNINoAs ANTANAVI6- zrus, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tape-Needles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a tool preferably intended for use by tailors in turning coathangers, passementerie and trimmings for dresses, where it is required to turn an article inside out after the stitching of seam on the so-called false side.
Heretofore this had to be made by the help of a band which was previously attached to the seam and which after the finishing of the seam and reversal of the article in question had to be removed, procedure which required much unnecessary labor and time, and which was very tedious besides being inconvenient.
It is the object of the invention to provide a tool doing away with all these disadvantages and inconveniences and allowingthe reversal of an article, without loss of time in a most handy manner.
A further object of the invention is to provide a tool of the character in question which can readily and quickly be adjusted to the various length of the article on which it is to be used.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of my device anr Fig. 2 is a similar view showing its use on an article to be reversed.
The tool 10, comprises a shaft 11 preferably made in three parts, the central part of which, 12 is provided at one end with screw Y threaded peg 18 adapted to engage a screw socket 1 1 of part 11. The opposite end of part 12 has a similar screw socket for the reception of a screw peg 16 of the adjoining part of the tool 10. Part 11 is provided at its outer end with a loop 17 for suspending the tool conveniently from a hook or nail.
In operation the tool is hooked with its point 20 onto the end of the material 22 at the place where its two edges are to be united by' a seam to form a tube. After the completion of the seam, when it is desired to turn the right side of the article outside, the tool is grasped by its handle 17 and drawn out of the tubular article so that the seam will be reversed in an obvious manner by drawing the inside to which the hook is secured, outside, whereafter the hook is conveniently detached for the material.
It will be seen that I accomplish the object of my invention by means of the described construction, which is perfectly adapted toaccomplish the result for which it is required and which may be made as strong and durable as necessary, and by means of this construction, I provide for the quick reversal of a tubular article of wear or' trimming.
It will be further seen that minor changes may be made in the form, shape and mate rial of my device without however departing from the scope and spirit of my invention.
What I claim is A tool of the character described comprising a shaft, a head part for said shaft provided with a threaded peg at one end, and a flattened part at the other, a central part provided with a threaded socket at one end adapted to be engaged by the peg on said head part, a screw peg at the opposite end, and a handle part provided with a screw socket at one end for engagement by the said peg of said central part at one end and a ring at the opposite end, said flattcned part of the head part provided with an elongated hole, and a point projecting into the said hole at the center of its upper end for engagement with the material of an article to be secured to form a tube, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature;
wmoAs ANTANAVIGZIUS.
