INVENTOR. 1.1 .Bqrfiqmig M93071! a hzoa-Mxi ATTORNEY.
BARTLOMIEJ MAZURYK, OF TUGASKE, SASKATCHEWAN, CANATJA. I
DRIVING MECHAN ISM.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 12, 1921.
Application filed October 15, 1919. Serial No. 330,938.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BARTLOMIEJ MAZURYK,
a citizen of Ukraine, residing at Tugaske, Province of Saskatchewan, and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Driving Mechanism, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide a driving mechanism especiallyadapted for panying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure and in which- Figure 1 is a top plan View of a churn, I
made in accordance with the invention, completely assembled,
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same, and
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 33 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the.
. and also the lower half 14 of the cream container, the same having a flange 15 around its upper face, and an opening 16 in the bottom through which the butter and butter milk may be removed.
The opening 16, is normally closed by the hand-hole cover 18 located in an opening 17 retained to the rotating shaft 40 causes agitain the base 10, and containing a packing ring 19 and secured tothe container 14 by the thumb screws 20.
Attached to the standard 12, by the hinge element 21, is a casing 22 forming extensions to the standards 12 and 13 and having a central semicircular hollow element 23 forming an upper half or cover for the lower section 14.
The elements 14 and 23 are held together funnel 26 is secured to the top of the element 23 and alines with an opening in the same, providing means for the introduction of material into the churn. V
A handle 30 is rotatably secured to the hand-wheel 31, which is pinned to the stub shaft 32,this shaft being journaled within the standard 13 and retained by the collars 33 and 34.
Keyed to the shaft 32 and located within the standard 13 is a spur gear 35, in mesh with the pinion 36, secured to the main shaft 40, which is journaled within the hinged casings 22 at both ends of frame. Secured upon this shaft, within the casing, is spur gear 41 in mesh with the pinion 42, attachedto the stub shaft 43, journaled within the standard 12 and held from lateral .movement by the collars 44 and 45. Also secured to the shaft 43 is the balance wheel 46.
F ined upon the shaft 40, Within the annular interior of the churn, is a series of paddles angularly positioned and forming a beater wheel 48. Access to the various bearings is provided for by the removal of the covers 49 and 50. i
Tn operation, the elements 18, 19 and 20 being secured in a proper manner, cream may be poured into the churn throu 'h the excess of the driving wheel speed, and storing energy to reduce the effort of turning the operating wheel 31. V
The paddle or beater wheel being fixedly tion or churning of the contents into butter in a manner which will be clearly understood.
Having thusdescribed my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- p In a driving mechanism of the character described, the combination of two casings and a shaft journaled within said casings at both of its ends, with pinions on said a shaft within said casings, a stub shaft journaledin oneo-f said casings, in hand Wheel at the outer end of said stub shaft, a pinion on said stub shaft Within said casing in mesh With one of said first named pinions, a stub shaft Within the other casing carrylng e pinion in mesh With the other of said first named pinions, an outer extension for the sig ature.
first named stub shaft and a balance Wheel at the outer extremity of said extension, sub- 'stantially as described and for the purpose 10 set forth. V
In'testimony whereof I have aihxed my 7 'BARTLOMIEJ MAZURYK.
