, BATH-HAMMOCK.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that we, HARRIET A. En#l MoNDs and F REDERIGK H. JoELs, citizens of the United States, residing at the city and county of Denver and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath-Hammocks; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had .to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. Y
The vobject of this invention is to provide a hammock whichy may befsecured to a bath tub and will serve to support a person for vapor baths or douches or enemas, in a convenient position.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a plan of the hammock.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section through the hammock on line 2 2, Fig. 1, showingl the same in operation positioned on a tub.
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the cross bar alone as indicated by line 3-3, Fig. 1.
The device comprises a sheet or blanket proper 10, having a head portion 12. The
intermediate portion which supports the hips is reinforced by a strap 14, passingv transversely thereof and provided at its ends with adjusting bucklesl and hooks 16 to engage the sides of the tub. Leg portions 18 are provided, which are separatedby an opening as shown, the extreme ends 20 of Vthese portions being extended sufficiently to provide foot rests. Straps 22 are secured to these extremities and also provided with adjusting buckles 24 and hooks 25. At the head end of the hammock diagonally ar-V ranged straps 26 areV provided having at their free ends adjusting'buckles 28V and hooks 30. These straps extend inwardly vas indicated at 126, and connect with a trans#v verse reinforcing strap 32 on which thevr shoulders are adapted to rest. At-an inter mediate point of the leg portions 18, a transverse rod 35 is positioned, this rod having a centrally disposed upwardly curved part 36, which tends to prevent the leg portions 1,8

fromV working together, and `keeping the` ,i
'space' between them open. rlihe ends of the v rod are provided with loops 38, which receive. straps 40 adjustable by buckles y42 and provided with hooks 44. Said rody 35 extends through pockets formed by stitching strips to the hammock, as indicated'- at 45.
The portions of the rod in said pockets are preferably curved downward as lindicated at 46, to `provide a convenient support forvthe legs when stretched out straight.
The device is mounted on a bath tuby 50,
by passing the various hooks 16, 25, 30, 44, Yaround the rim'of the tub. The buckles are adjusted to properly stretch the hammock according to the size of thejtubl so that the v device is ready for use.
This device provides a convenient and serviceable structure for use by invalids or by those who treat themselves at home. YFor instance, when .taking a vapor bath, vthe vpatient may lie upon the hammock under a cover for the first stage ofthe treatment, and
then, by loosening two or three of the hooks,
