To all 'whom it may concern:

'Be it known that I, DAVID F. CURTIN, a citizen of the United States, residin at Chicago, in the county of Cool; and tate of-Illinois, have invented certam new and useful Improvements in Container-Dispensers, of Yw hich the .following is a descr1pt1on.

My invention relates tomeans for conveniently storing devices to be sold or distributed in stores or other public places where they may be conveniently accesslble to the attendants withoutv detracting from the neat orderly appearance of the establishment.

The object-of my invention is to provide a convenient, durable attractive device of the kind described especially adapted for use with paper or other. exible cups or containers and arranged to prevent any contact of the hands of the attendants with the interior of the devices.

To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described and more particularly pointed out in the claims. A

In the form shown in the drawings my device consists of a suitably formed base or bottom part 1 formed of any suitable material but preferably havin suiicient weight to maintain the device 1n position on a table or shelf when in service. tubular member 2 is mounted upon the base 1, and rigidly secured in position in any suitable manner so that the device may be handled or moved about with its` contents as a unit.

In the form shown the exterior wall 3 of the member 2 is a plain cylindrical tube having alongtudinal slot v4: in its front side of suiicier-ta-width to afford convenient access to the containers 5 nested within the device.

'An inner tubular member 6 is also referably provided having a plurality o 'series of longitudinal ridges 7-.7 formed therein adaptedto engage the periphery of the conta1ners 1 n the receptacle to maintain them 1n pos1t1o n so that if desired a holder or otherdevice used in conjunction with the contalners may engage a fold or seam 8 1n the containers to remove them from the dispenser.

1n the preferred form the upper margin 9 of the-member 3 is folded 'over the inner member and arranged to form a slight bead at the top of the dispenser. The margins of the slot 4 are similarly folded over to provide a smooth finish at these points and also to rigidly maintain the' part 6 in position thus forming a neat compact receptacle whlch may be finished in any suitable manner according vto the vtastes of the user and the surroundings of the apparatus.

' In the form shown in Fig. 3 the inner member 6 is entirely omitted, the upper margm 11 is merely folded inward upon itself to form a smooth finish at this point. The margins 12 of the slot 14 are also formed 1n the same manner. In addition to enabling an attendant to note thenumber of containers in the dispenser the slot 14 permits convenient access to the exterior of the upper container in my device, thus enabling him to hold the same.. in position while a holder or other device for handling the containers is being engaged with the fold or projection 8 of the container.

In the preferred construction also a portion of the tubular member2 is provlded between the lower end of the slot and base 1 to conceal the interior of the base 1 in case the container is empty and also to prevent any portion` of the containers to project or bulge out at the slot and present an untldy appearance and also distort the contalner. Y

Having thus described my improvement it is obvious that various immaterial modifications may be made in my device without departing from the spirit of my invention, hence I doY not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the exact form or construction shown.

What I claim as newand desire to secure by Letters'Patent is:

.1. A container dispenser, comprising a base, and a tubular member mounted thereon and adapted toreceive a plurality of nested conical containers and to cover the margins and control the position of said containers, saidl member having a. longilsrs tudinal s lot in one side extending from the top of sald 'tubular member but terminating above said base to leave an unbroken wall -at the lower end of said tubular member,

tudinal slot in one side adapted to afford convenient access to the exterior of the uppermost container in said dispenser, and means at the inner wall of said member Jfor engaging the periphery of said containers to prevent their rotation in said dispenser.

3. In a container dispenser, a hase, a tubular member mounted upon said base and formed to receive a plurality of nested containers, said member having an outer and an inner wall provided with a longitudinal slot in one side adapted to afford convenient access to the exterior of the uppermost conwere@ tainer in said dispenser, and means formed upon the inner wall of said member for engaging the periphery of said containers t maintain the same in position.

4. In a container dispenser, abase, a tubular member mounted upon Said base and formed to receive a plurality of nested containers, said member being provided with a longitudinal slot in one side adapted to afford convenient access to the exterior of the uppermost container in said dispenser, and va plurality of ridges formed upon the inner Wall of said member and extending longitudinally thereof for engaging' the periphery of said containers to maintain the same in position.
